There is a town in Brazil where wild dolphins help humans fish. The Dolphins have learned to push schools of fish towards the humans and when the humans throw their nets the dolphins find it easier to pick off the fish that escape. These dolphins are completely wild. My point here is that if you want to see dolphins working with humans, go there.
I've seen that o RU-vid it was so cool. Dolphins followed me in Florida thousand island I was about twelve and swam with a wild dolphin I even had it swim next to me

Orcas are psychopaths, you only need to read about what they do to their prey(not even for food, just to have fun). I'm glad that atleast some of them are locked up.
Did you know that orca’s and almost any animal lives longer in captivity than in the wild due to being fed every day and tended to when they’re a visible issue with them? And did you know that people who work at zoo’s know more about animals than anyone else because they have to go to 4/2 year college and learn about animals before a job like the zoo allows them?.. did you also know that without zoo’s most animals would be extinct?

The last time orcas were captured was almost 40 years. The orcas you see in this video was probably born there and because of that, SeaWorld can’t release them into the wild because they won’t be able to survive in the wild. If they were to release them in the wild the orcas would need to be trained to hunt for food and other things.
Which should be fine, orcas are social and hunt in pods. If you released them into a pod I'm sure they would be integrated and the pod will teach them their ways just like humans have been teaching them tricks.
@@hybriddon2608 I agree with this but they actually tried to rehabilitate one to survive in the wild one time. it was a huge and expensive project. they built a wide sea pen and tried to train the orca for months to try to catch live prey. when they finally released it, it sadly died they would discover as no wild orca pods would accept it and it kept approaching boats and people
Some of the commenters do know the majority of orcas in captivity are raised and born in captivity, setting them free with be condemning them to a sad and slow death right? as they lack the survival training their wild cousins have

@@redvanderbilt289Only issue is that their hunting abilities are taught by matriarchs in their pods. If they have nobody to instruct them, they can starve to death. Also some orca pods are not very welcome to newcomers. They are social creatures but not always accommodating.

Whale watching tours are an enormous disturbance for wild orcas. Many pods are unable to find food these days because they keep getting harrassed by tour boats.
Yes they are awful mammals who torture other marine animals. They’re no better than people. Having said that, it doesn’t justify capturing and enslaving them. Only the ones that we’ve caught red handed torturing a dolphin or summat
Although I can agree that these parks are not very healthy for these animals, I do have to disagree with some of the comments about animals not being held captive. Do any of you have pets? Those are captive animals. All animals were wild before they were domesticated. Training an animal to perform tricks and caring for a domesticated animal is not abuse, it's the living conditions that these animals are forced to live in and the type of care they receive that we need to look at. A lot of "wild" creatures featured in parks like this have actually never lived in the wild a day in their life and they wouldn't be able to survive out there. An unfortunate circumstances created by past mistakes, but in many cases it would be cruel to release them, now. It's now mankind's responsibility to care for these creatures. These Orcas definitely need better conditions and care but I worry about their survival rate if they were released into the ocean.
Exactly 💯 People just don't know what they're talking about we need better living conditions for them. The tricks they are taught pay for their food and care I hope SeaWorld never goes out of business because the day they do those orcas are dead

It's called a slide out behavior. She is on her side cause look she's getting a rub down . While they talk about the orcas . B it's a she due to the shape of the dorsal fin. While males have large dorsal fins. Fwi fin collapse is due to them spending more time at the surface with their handlers and the occasional guest who goes behind the scenes
Slide out behaviors are used as hunting tatic in Argentina. While at seaworld it's for measuring weight or to get a rub down which helps the orca and human bond .

Haha youre clueless. Number one the orca program is dont they are not doing orcas anymore its phased out after these pass away. If you actually had a brain to research you would know that two of these were bread in captivity and are very happy to be there. And another one they rehabbed and tried to let it go and he it didnt work so they took him in and saved his life. And tilikum is the only orca to attack and he was raised in canada where they treated him like garbage. So get clue. For my sixteenth birthday me and my mom went to Seattle to see orcas. We didnt which was a little sad, but i would much rather not see them while i know there free, than seeing them in a containment pool. I would love to have a special moment with a wild orca that would live in my mind forever. I would much rather have that than spending money to go to sea world. If im gonna spend any money on seaworld, it would to by it. And do so much to help the whales.

For example at the part where the baby orca is separated from the mother, almost none of the clips they show are of the actual two whales mentioned. They’re all just random benign clips of orcas, and that’s because there’s no footage of kasatkas reaction to Takara being taken away. There’s just eye witness reports. There is however footage of other orcas being transported to other parks and they ARE screaming in the way trainers describe. Those aren’t in the doc. things like that. They’re just picking at it for including dramatizations that are natural for modern documentaries. anyone telling you “blackfish is debunked” is just selling counter propaganda. Tilikums story is still real. you can look it up and it aligns pretty well with the doc.

Every comment talks about how terrible this is but what is happening with these animals is the only life they can live. All animals that can be returned to the wild have been. All the animals left were born in captivity or taken from the wild at such a young age they cannot survive in the wild. Raising money to give them the best life these animals can get is important too. If everything was perfect none would have ever been captured but they were. All left in parks must be taken care of till the last of them passes away
Give them money and all of the sudden they start their breeding program back up. The message people are saying with this being completely cruel should never stop or else people will start doing it again.

While they have stopped breeding here in the US, there are HUNDREDS of parks that are all owned by the SAME COMPANY that are being built all over JAPAN AND CHINA right now. The breeding there hasn’t stopped, it hasn’t doubled, tripled, even quadrupled, nope- it has multiplied by 25 times over the past 5 years. The storage of the whale population is EVEN WORSE than it is here in the USA. They are being kept in what are basically water tower tanks, just set on the ground. With no ability to move. People who go to the parks here in the USA fund EVERYTHING that this company does, EVERYTHING. Also, as for the “Whales can not be released.” Theory. That has been proven time and time again to be just plain wrong. We also have HUNDREDS of Open Ocean Pens that would love these whales, and would allow them to spend their life in a normal habitat.

@ronaldgrove3283 without places like seaworld or aquariums many endangered animal studies would be hard to do . Plus places like aquariums in Seoul also are great opportunities for the people to actually learn. The animals have personalities.

Go and you may have a blast . Seaworld takes great care of their animals The orcas show their natural behaviors in shows but are used by the vet staff to look after the orcas . The attacks most of them are human error such as John, tamarie , john hargrove hit his head in a shallower area . As if it was a orca he'd be dead . (Scene in blackfish with blood on his face.) Takayama and Kalina were both adult feamles at 3 and 5 years of age which is when feamles are capable to reproduced and already had calves . Sam berg never worked at Orlando and never with tilikum John hargrove never met dawn and never worked with tilikum . Jeff venture yet worked with orcas but not tilikum

I wouldn’t let the internet scare you. Yeah they may be captive, but some of the animals were born into captivity, meaning if they were to be released, then they would live a lesser lifespan, not knowing how to hunt or adapt to the wild. You don’t have to attend the shows if you don’t want to, and you can still enjoy the rides…
@nomoreabuse- if it's captive it suffers and that is in regards to all animals. "No animal" deserves to be caged or confined in small tanks and cages and their food withheld so, they can be trained to do tricks to entertain human's.

I’m from Vancouver and the practice of orca confinement began here in the 1960’s. I’m not proud of that. They’re very intelligent members of the dolphin family. Each pod has its own language dialect. A highly structured family unit led by a matriarch. Thankfully this cruel practice is ending

A worker was killed by an orca at seaworld. The orca may have just been playing, but these are awesome creatures who are also wild. Respect wild creatures and give them their space!!

I have worked with many animals . I work at many wildlife programs where else in captivity get to meet the public. This in fact we used to do zoo club at preschool . The little kids were always excited to see and pet the animals. There are also times we'd bring out other animals. that they couldn't quite pet but look at and admire em as I and malia talked about em.
Those are beautiful powerful animals, but never let your guard down with them, remember a trainer died because a orca took her life whether it was a accident or not
