A really hypnotic -- though also unsettling -- story. There is a good chance it was inspired or at least presaged by "Where the Tides Ebb and Flow" by Lord Dunsany (part of his collection "A Dreamer's Tales").
Thanks for listening and for your kind words. I don't know that Lord Dunsany story, but I'll look it up. The initial inspiration was seeing a Manchester Evening News cutting commemorating the real 1906 incident. I was also partly influenced by Poe's Mystery of Marie Roget, with its forensic details of a drowning victim.
Yes, it does end a bit abruptly. All the script is there, but the recording I have unfortunately got cut just before the end credits (which I've posted below the vid)
