I dont understand how militaries did not adopt this pistols??? I mean theres always a workaround to keep the barrels from falling during reloading loke putting a string.
The screw barrels were expensive to manufacture, and thus would not have been accepted by military boards of the time, who wanted to get the cheapest deals they could. These would have been bought privately by rich officers who could afford them; in some examples, there was a chain or swivel, to prevent the barrel being lost. In any case, reloading would have been nearly impossible in the heat of battle, especially for an officer on horseback. The enlisted men were trained to provide volleys of fire, with muskets and loose-fitting bullets, at a rate of about 3 shots per minute: in a charge, they used their bayonets. An officer had only 2 single shot pistols, and then relied on his sword.
