Olá Mandy & Lee - you made my heart skip a beat with the opening of this video! I am sure I’ve mentioned to you before how much I love Cabo Carvoeiro. It was one of my favourite places to go when I had a bit of free time. Only a few minutes away in the car and I could watch the most magnificent winter sunsets. I wonder if the rooftop of the restaurant is still accessible? Those rock formations are a must see and as child I was always fascinated by such things. Still am. I might have been a geologist in a former life. When I lived there, there was a large colony of little cats living amongst the cliffs, close to the restaurant. I started to bring tins of tuna with me to feed them. There were other locals who fed them as well. I have some pretty spectacular sunset photos from the cliffs and on one evening, in particular, the sky was blazing orange behind the silhouettes of cats and gulls. So beautiful! I regret not going in to churches and chapels in Portugal. I didn’t know if it was OK to do, especially in non-touristy places. I didn’t speak the language yet, and I am not Catholic so really didn’t know if it was allowed. Now of course, I do know and will enjoy visiting them. My Mum was an amazing photographer and loved taking photos of churches and lighthouses… (amongst other things) and passed that love down to me. I can’t wait to see inside Nossa Senhora dos Remédios! It’s such a shame the restaurant is now closed. It was a very popular place, and even had a steady business in the winter. Terrific seafood I’m told. I didn’t eat out… saving pennies, but also because I was solo most of the time, I ate at home. As a shy introvert, I never got used to eating alone in a restaurant. Naturally I’ve had to many times but it’s not my thing. Funny, eh? Cafes I’m fine… but in a nice restaurant I don’t feel so comfortable. That Wok Peniche looks great! I hope it stays and I can try it once I’m back. I’ll get one of my local friends to join me!! Are those wine prices (and for me food prices as well) incredible. I picked up a bottle of Vinho Verde at the little market in Atouguia to take with me to dinner at a friends and she was so pleased… said it was one of her favourites (and is most definitely mine - I can get it in Canada & the US - yay)… and I paid maybe just under 2 euros for it! Incredible. In Canada it’s $12 - still a bargain by Canadian standards. Such a lovely video… it really is a special country and a very special area, so near and dear to my heart. Hello Jen! We are so pleased that this video brought back such happy memories, and that we could share beautiful Cabo Carvoeiro with you! Some things have changed, ie no access at all to the restaurant now as it's completely blocked off. Also we didn't see any cats there, so maybe the colony has been relocated. The church is so beautiful and I'm sure you will enjoy visiting Nossa Senhora when you return! I always used to feel uncomfortable eating out on my own, but now I spend so much time videoing and taking photos that any discomfort is immediately banished 😉 It's a great avoidance method! I really like vinho verde, and it will always be such a wonderful reminder of Portugal... not that I'd pay more than €5 for it anywhere in the world, so am stuck drinking it only in beautiful Portugal! Hello Mandy / Lee, I guess that's gonna be the last video from Portugal, isn't it? 1) Nice underground bathroom, great idea but not practical for the disabled / elderlies. 2) That Asian all-u-can-eat buffet looks pretty good.. Let's hope it tastes as good as it looks. 3) the long fish is a "black scabbard fish" (portuguese "peixe expada" which mean "sword fish" but not to be mistaken w/ Swordfish). "Peixe Espada" is delicious deep fried. 4) Booze half price? What a bargain 😵‍💫 Wishing you guys a lovely week ahead, take care 😎

Hello SERGIO! There's still 1 more video to go which shows my trip down to Lisbon, and flight back to the UK. After that we'll be onto our Middle East videos. I agree with the toilets not having good access, which is something I thought about at the time. Wok Peniche tasted as good as it looked! There was so much more footage but Lee persuaded me to cut it right back. It's the best sushi buffet we've been to as not only was the sushi and teppenyaki delicious, but the hot food was also tasty and fresh, unlike some of the other buffets. Thank you for letting us know about Peixe Espada! I hadn't come across it before, so I appreciate the information. Some of the wine was ⅓ the normal price! An amazing bargain indeed! Great video guys. We discovered that coastline on the way to Peniche on our last visit. It's really amazing isn't it. Have penciled in to take my group to the Wok buffet. That long black fish in the market is espada. Espada con banana is a famous dish from Madeira, so yummy. Only caught in the deep waters around the island, hence the huge eyes as it's a very deep water fish. I love that market in Caldas, best olives in Portugal. I'm so going to miss you guys not being in Portugal, but on to more adventures. I look forward to you sharing them as well. A big thank you for sharing your travels over the last 2 years. You saved me during COVID from bad non travel withdrawals. And I have discovered many wonderful places and other countries I will now try to visit. Cheers.

I have enjoyed your views of Portugal. One thing I noticed over the course of the videos is how good Lee got at speaking Portuguese. Did he study it or have prior exposure to the language? I can only hope to pick it up as well as he did.

@@ericak7825 Yes, no problem. There are a few differences but I never once had a Portuguese person say they couldn't understand me because I was speaking Brazilian Portuguese. As an example, English is spoken in so many countries, and there are so many wildly varying accents, yet we manage to understand each other 😀😁

I get attached to clothes and find it so hard to throw them away. If we'd been in the UK I would have put them in storage and kept them as souvenirs! Turns out I didn't need to buy new jeans as had 2 op shop pairs in storage ~ Mandy 😀😁
