While I was blown away by the visuals, and learned a lot from Reuben, it was the ion’s grunting sounds that got me.

Although the ions are simple creatures, their language has never been decoded. Perhaps one day science will unravel this mystery.

I have a question. Most of the copper that we use in all of the various ways that we use it is not just copper. Virtually all of the uses we have for copper use an alloy. There are many different materials that can be used to alloy copper. My question is, how do you separate the metals in order to get pure copper?
@rmahaffy
@rmahaffy Год назад
An electrorefining cell is one method. It uses electricity to cause impure copper to oxidize and then it reduces to pure copper metal. It would be an interesting thing to make a video about!
@asarand

@@rmahaffy that's great. I'll be looking into that more. What happens to the other metal or metals?

It is a microscope objective lens mated to a Fujifilm mirrorless camera with a 3d.pronted adapter. In the short version though it was just a microscope and a cell phone with a cheap adapter from Amazon!

What happens to my finger if IF I DIP IT IN THAT MIXTURE
@nao-im6oe
@nao-im6oe Год назад
Nothing really. The protein of your finger will not interact with the electron from silver nor copper so there will be no chemical reaction and your finger will be clean and safe. Maybe the salt from your finger will oxidate(tarnish) 0.0001% of the metals.

Is the Silver like LEGIT SILVER!? like.... could me being disabled n stuff, this is a task I could physically do and harvest the silver and just keep building up the amount to eventually sell
@rmahaffy
@rmahaffy Год назад
It is real silver, but since the compound in the solution (silver nitrate) is very expensive it would not earn money I'm afraid

@@yashasvisinghsaini Uh... What's your problem here? Displacement reactions are fine with the non ionized metal being more reactive, heck, it's a requirement! If it was less reactive, then it wouldn't do anything.
