Thanks for watching my video on silver dimes! if you haven’t seen my silver stacking 101 series check it out here: ru-vid.com/group/PLKi-oPu6dkH1Qef4R1V8A7RWhSh-PGh6W
I'm a new beginner,in my 3 weeks of coin collecting.I just found 1960 silver dimes out of 100$ while I watching your video now. 11 Half silver Kennedy coin, and many quarters and valuble dimes including Sacagawea Cheerios 2000 P 1 $coins too. I guess this is called beginner's luck!!My 3 Korean bank has half dollars not much but among 150 half dollars I found 11 Silver dollars!Chase bank had no half dollars at all. Its my new exciting hobby now.Thank you.
Subbed. I have been piling precious metals for awhile now, bought my first piece of gold in the early 80's when it was around $400 an ounce. Started buying silver in the early 90's when it was around $8.00 an ounce, but always in bullion, then I would cash it in for gold. I just started silver coin stacking a couple months ago buying rolls from the bank with fair luck finding silver ones. Now I buy bags of "junk" silver, mostly dimes for the exact reasons you state. I like the way you explain things, easy to understand.
All good reasons for stacking them. Most people must agree with you. Lately dealers seem to run out of Mercury dimes especially when they have them. Something I find interesting is that when you stick a tube of Mercury dimes next to a tube of Roosevelt dimes, the Mercury dimes are usually lower in the tube. It's due to the fact that they are older and have more wear on them. I too usually never wear gloves when handling them, but then my hands usually have a silver or gray film on them as well as a smell at times.
I have just discovered silver dimes and am beginning to collect them for the reasons you give above. I particularly like the mercury over Roosevelt because all mercury dimes are 90% silver and so, no long explanations about when dimes went from silver to clad are necessary when purchasing things with them. Thanks for all your postings and keep up the good work. It is appreciated.
I KNOW THIS IS FIVE YEARS AGO BUT YOUR VOICE SOUNDS LIKE A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT VOICE TO ME. WHEN I LOOKED DOWN TO SEE THE CHANNEL ID I COULDNT BELIEVE IT WAS THE SILVER DRAGON THAT I KNOW YOU BY TODAY.
Just started getting into silver I've bought libertads aztec rounds and a 5 oz monarch bar Just got my first order of constitutional silver and I think it's my favorite out of all of them
For the Mercury Dime series: There are a total of 77 different date and mint mark combinations, including coins struck at the Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco Mints. Across all issues of the series, there were 2,676,523,880 coins produced. This is more than five times the production of the previous Barber Dime series, which had roughly the same number of issues. The peak mintage occurred with the 1944 Mercury Dime, with 231,410,000 coins struck at the Philadelphia Mint. The lowest mintage issue and famous key date is the 1916-D Mercury Dime. There were a scant 264,000 pieces minted and most were well circulated before being saved by collectors. The average mintage across all issues is 34,760,050.
I like how at the end of your video, #5, you said “you don’t have to worry about wearing gloves.” Since when do YOU care about gloves?🤨 Good video. Love the Mercs. Main reason I like stacking dimes are primarily for SHTF situations, and the low premium over spot. Agree with your “easy to store” reason. Just chuck ‘em in a bag and call it a day. Keep stacking. Keep prepping. Long live the Empire!
My favorite is the quarter. They are big enough to play with and feel like some weight. Half’s are also nice. I do stack dimes I just have my favorites!
Yeah that sounds about right. I still would not want to part with any though. That's the worst thought, spending the silver. I would spend everything else first.
Saw a video where they broke down the math, and 1 dime is still worth a "day's labor" if you take into account the whole world. From ancient times to present
According to a video I just saw in Venezuela a dime is getting a months worth of food, gotta imagine that's just rice or beans but if you need it ..,.........learn to love rice and or beans quick. Good video man.
I'm just getting into silver. I have a coin store in my city that will dump a huge bag of dimes, quarters etc. I did dimes and got a rare 1935 mint mistake & a 1911 Beautiful condition Barber dime. What a fun hobby that is worth money!!!
I still laugh about the most expensive donuts I've ever bought. It was 10 or 12 years ago, when my twin daughters were around kindergarten age. I'd been culling pre-'64 coins from my change. I left them on a corner of my desk in the man-cave. I worked nights at the time, and was asleep one day when my wife decided to take the girls up the street to the donut shop. She didn't have any cash, but she remembered seeing some loose change on my desk... Totally my fault, of course. I'd never mentioned it to my wife, who isn't a born citizen of the US and hadn't been born at all when LBJ took the silver out of our coins (though he was waging a whopping great war in her home country). I thought about it again today when I found a 1919 Mercury dime and a few pre-'64 quarters in a box of my long-deceased stepfather's effects.
Here in the UK, I came across a story that a man had been getting loads of 50th coins from the bank. These coins have loads of different designs. He had spent hundreds of hours going through them and had around 100 face value £50. But as numismatic coins about 800. He had kept telling his wife that they were worth money One day he came home and they were gone. His wife had spent them. "I needed the money now " she explained. He said that she had made her point. And subsequently sold them off quickly.
Lamarr Avery I was gonna say...I didn't fact check but I've heard it said that silver dimes are melted down faster than most other US Constitutional silver. Again idk if that's fact, kinda don't know how you would find that out much less fact check it but it sounds believable at least.
You all would not believe what happened today. I took some steel swamp coolers to the scrap yard and got paid in cash this time not a check and I was handed the paper money and two silver Roosevelt dimes! I could not believe it. Two silver coins at the same time. And my total just happened to come out to where they had to give me two dimes. The odds of even getting one silver dime are pretty bad. Granted it was just two silver dimes but this really excites me.
@@bobsilver3983 Yep that's why I like paying in cash. About two years ago I got a 1964 quarter from Starbucks I will never forget that either. I knew the sound right when he took it out of the register. Other things happen too. Like finding Mercury dimes in the coinstar reject tray.
They also give you a greater level of diversity in your stack, which is definitely something everyone should strive for. We have no idea what kinds of regulations might exist in the future. Diversity means options.
Awesome video dude. I found a 1943 war nickel last night at my work. That's the third war nickel I've found in slightly over a month. I don't think ppl know to look for them
I picked up 500 of these from Provident on the same deal. They hooked me up with about half Mercs on top of the Roosys. Found 5 slick Barbers in the bag too.
Awesome video! This is the first video I watched on this channel. I am a numismatic (coin collector) and I also have some silver coins. I agree with the points on this video although this can apply to other constitutional silver as well. I am outside of the US so I collect silver coins from my country as well as foreign silver.
A good point to remember on stacking physical silver is that less than 2% of the general population has any silver of any kind in their possession. This equates to rare, which will eventually equate to "cha-ching" when the rigging of the metals markets stops. And it will stop eventually.
Baggins, You Rock - DEFINITELY the way to stack Fractional Silver been doing this for years so as to not pay those high premiums. My LCS in our area charges spot price... I like the idea that it is very unlikely to see counterfeit Constitutional Silver especially in low denominations like Dimes... Mercs are Beauties too to boot... Great Video my Man... 😉👍
Mark Price always Stacking fractional constitutional Silver at 90% at Spot Price... Dimes, quarters, halves ... easy app here gives you actual silver amount in the coin at Spot Price... www.bullionspotprice.com
That's a great video ! I have been sold on 90% for years and have been preaching to anyone that would listen to me DIMES DIMES DIMES ! You can't buy to many silver DIMES ! LOL. I tell them and if they have way listen and actually by something , they will buy something like rounds or 1 oz bars because they are " pretty :: ! Drives me crazy ! Sharing to Fake Book to back up what I've been trying to tell 'em ! 8 ) Thanks Bud !
Question- you ever consider pouring a “Dragon Tooth” bar? Have you ever done that? Get a mold to look like a dragons tooth and start pouring! Then maybe down the road, a “dragon scale”? Dragon talon?
@@SilverDragons47 yes according to JFK - he ordered to use the silver that was backing the silver certificates as he wanted silver demonetized and to end that program. I've done a full report on that- look up smaulgld federal reserves notes and silver certificates
Hey I really like the low cost way of sticking fractional silver. I never thought about it that way. You are absolutely 100% right on. 1/10 rounds are a ridiculous mark up, and for that reason I would never buy them. Thanks for this insight.
I believe in dimes very much but I want Mercury dimes whenever possible because Ive gone through many Mercs and I have found beautiful AU Mercury dimes that are worth much more than bullion. I would really like to show you my KEEPER Mercs I pulled from JUNK SILVER stock. Same thing goes for WALKING LIBERTY HALVES. I have 3 rolls of beautiful XF WALKERS.
Excellent points. In addition to having known mintages, it's also worth considering that actual survival estimates are less than original mintage figures. Many of these coins were lost, destroyed, or melted. Over time, that should help increase premiums, especiallty if prices rise in the future, and more are melted.
Ok I bought 1000$ in the dimes by the rolls now how do I protect them like loose in airtight box put n flips or what is best? And do you know good price per roll you try stay in?
5 reasons why *not* to stack silver dimes 1) They are only 90% silver. More refining is needed to make them pure, and silver for industrial use needs to be quite pure. 2) Becasue they are circulated, silver has been worn off. You are paying per coin, and are paying for the worn off silver that does add up over time. 3) Although premiums are usually quite low, the same same can be said about large bars. Large bars take up less space, and do not need bags or tubes for storage. 4) Mintage for junk silver is almost always higher then generic 1 ounce silver rounds. Tens of millions vs a few thousand. 5) Junk silver does not have the word 'silver' stamped on it like most other silver coins or bars. Less of the general public will know it's silver compared to a round with '1 ounce of .999 fine silver' stamped on it.
I personally like getting mercury dimes Mostly due to that fact that the newer Roosevelt dimes 65+ are not silver and possibly could create confusion in SHTF
I agree my friend. I am a 90% dime and half dollar fanatic. I LOVE the Merc's, but any dime will do. The premiums on fractional bullion is ridiculous!! Great info. 🐉✌
One factor one does have to keep in mind is that 'constitutional silver' has often lost a (usually small) fraction of its weight through wear as a circulated coin. :)
House Resolution states that all future PM coinage must be .999 purity. Dimes will have to be remelted into .999 US purity coinage. There is not enough Junk to meet our US coinage needs.
@@SilverDragons47 Silver 90% dimes will not be accepted as US coinage, as declared by House Resolution. Not one PM realer is speaking out on this. They are going to receive a hefty fee when the Junk need to be handed in for remelt. PM dealers want to get rid of it by offering huge Junk saving. Buyer Beware.
I don't know what Canada has in mind legal wise. I'd be interested a link to the Bill. But I still think can be very useful in commerce. It is immediately durable for day to day transactions while 0.999 would be more suitable for conveyance of wealth between financial entities and individuals. Need to look at the fine print.
Great Video but... limited mintage is true but the number minted is extreme with the silver dimes from 1950 to 1964 they minted over 5.5 Billion dimes. That is a lot of dimes nice video thanks for sharing. I am a type coin collector as well as a original bank wrapped rolls and love the dimes.
richcali21 , Hai sir, I am in India , I have some USA and other countries old coin, I Interested sell all coins so buyers can call my wat's up no ,8098241481 thank you sir...
I got that same deal but I got the quarters also. I got a barber in mine along with 30 Mercury's so that was a plus. A roll of mercury's are more expensive than Roosevelt's.✌
Shouted you out and did an impersonation bro. Haha. Ps love dimes. Of all types too. Mercs and Love the layout of channel. And I agree on the five reasons broseph.
