To me you can’t get any better than this park as far as a complete package. Rides, Food, Shows, Theming, and Employees are all top notch. This is the closest experience you can get to Disney/Universal at a seasonal theme park!
I was just thinking about the similarities the other day. It begs the question if Herschend bought Knotts from Cedar Fair what else would they would do with it I wonder?
@@sgtmyers88 I think they would make the entire park western themed and would probably have different additions that would fit the western theme better.
Always great to see a strong review of one of the best and not often enough talked about theme parks. I’ve been going to the park since 1997 and it never disappoints. It’s a treasure and cannot be replicated. The setting alone is perfection. It doesn’t feel like a theme park. It feels so authentic. Everything is rustic, raw lumber and rusted metal and tin, hand painted signs and artwork, craftsmanship galore. I adore it all. I appreciate you mentioning the continuity of the theming as well. I’ve always preferred this park because you almost never see a theme park with one theme throughout. The immersion is endless here and I think it’s a huge leg up compared to Dollywood with its various themes and blown out open spaces in the back.
This is my childhood park and I absolutely agree with everything you said. The theming and immersion throughout the park is severely underrated. The whole park is an experience in and of itself, and it literally feels like a whole different world. It was even crazier to me when I was a kid. I'm very glad that I live so close to it.
loved your commentary and shared your passion to coaster! I’m totally amazed by your ability to explain everything effortlessly and clearly. One can only imagine the immense work behind the scenes, well done mate.👍 keep the good content coming.
I used to go here every weekend with my family. Its the best experience, I have so many memories flooding back watching this! Thank you🥺 I've been missing my home, and my family in Branson so much. I needed this smile.
The theming is probably the best in the world outside of Disney and Universal! My advice is to go during their Christmas season for some real amazing theming.
I grew up not far from this park and went there countless times and it is crazy to see what it has become. Thunderation was THE ride at the park for so long until wildfire came and started the shift into what is today. It would have been awesome growing up around the park now, such a different experience.
SDC is beside Islands of Adventure and Cedar Point my absolute favorite themepark in the US and maybe overall! A friend of me said "It´s like oldschool Disneyland, but in real". Love the unique atmosphere, the ride lineup, the scenery and landscaping, the cavetour. This park is just love!
Dollywood is an hour and a half from where I live, so it's my home Park and I love it. After seeing Taylor's excellent video and hearing him enthusiastically describe SDC, I must say I'm a bit jealous/envious. Can't believe I'm even saying this, but SDC looks prettier AND cooler than Dollywood. I love the constant theme vs the various different areas at Dollywood also. Gotta get to SDC as soon as I can.
It's so weird to think back to before Wild Fire, its a small B&M but it really marked a turning point for the park. It was the first REAL thrill ride the park invested in. I've been going since I was 7 or so, about to have my first kid and SDC will def be their first park.
@@DeadRabbit5 well yeah if you mean length but that’s like calling outlaw run small because it’s 30 seconds long or saying dragster is small because it’s like 15 seconds long
@@R7SkIlZ compared to other B&M coasters of the same model type its small. But if you're really getting hung up on the word "small" then fine, I think it's short. And being as you brought up Outlaw Run, I think its also "small" compared to other RMCs, but to be fair it's topper track and really stands alone as a coaster type after all of the rework on Lightning Rod. I love both roller coasters though.
This is one of the only things I miss from the Midwest. I love silver dollar city and went there ever since I was a kid and have fond memories of going. I hope I can go back sometime. So far this has been my favorite theme park of the ones I’ve been to
We first went to Silver Dollar City in 1977. From then on we went back every year, sometimes several times a year until our kids were grown. Now we go back every once in a while with our grown kids and our grandkids. We've got some really great memories at that park !
I’ve been going to SDC since the mid 90’s. It’s my favorite theme park and it’s changed a lot over the years. My favorite part, as a kid, was splash harbor. The cave is awesome.
I've lived in the ozarks my whole life and going to SDC biannually is what keeps me going. Gotta say that I've also got friends that work there and hate it especially during the summer. Employees have to wear old timey dresses and things and the probability of passing out from heat exhaustion is very high. Gotta love it.
I grew up in the Ozarks and went to SDC nearly every year growing up in the 80s and 90s. Great video - glad you captured how immersive the park is and all the unique rides and amazing food. They have a lot of new rides since I moved away but I'm hoping to visit again someday soon. One of the best theme parks in the country, for sure!
It changes every year (new rides, different shows, the weather is bendable) you'll literally never get bored, I go every year and to mention the staff that play the part of old times so well its good to take kids and friends
In STL so only a few hours away. We used to go here every year as a kid. This place brings back so much nostalgia it’s insane. Love how they continually add new rides as well.
I agree with all of your points. Granted, since it's my home park, I take it for granted so badly, but seeing great people like you who rave about this place make me very thankful that it's so close to home. As for Mystic River Falls, it's been a maintenance headache for the park, but it seems like they got the shark issue under control thankfully. Sounds like the sharks all went south for winter lol Flooded Mine is indeed one of the older attractions, if I'm not mistaken it opened in the 1960s. Fun ride, but nothing too special Great to see your refreshed thoughts on the park!
SDC is my home park and the one thing you couldn’t have mentioned is their consistency. I probably 20+ times a year and every single time they deliver an amazing experience.
Marvel Cave was closed last year when we went, but even without that the theme park is the most amazing park I’ve been to outside of Disney and Universal. Can’t wait to go back this year and crossing my fingers the cave is open!
Love Silver Dollar City, love it every time we go, my dad owns a timeshare and a resort in Branson and never disappoints when I go! And heck yes the food is so good and the food there is homemade, made by scratch! Like you can't go wrong with homemade food
I'm 39 years old and have been going to this park since I could barely walk. I remember when the park had no roller coasters to speak of, but it was still a helluva good time. The theming and shows are top notch. The food is amazing. Fun fact, some of the theming is based loosely on the history of the area. The indoor kiddie coaster Fire in the Hole has its theming rooted in a town, now under water, that was destroyed by a fire in the 1890s. I believe the old church in the town square is an actual country church that was moved to the park and restored.
i live in springfield missouri so i’ve grown up on silver dollar city and i’ve always loved it. i’ve been during the christmas event twice and it’s truly amazing. i’ve been there so many times and i’m sure if i went today i would still be able to find a new place that i haven’t seen before because there’s so many nooks and crannies in this park. surprisingly i still haven’t been through the cave but i’m planning on it for the next time i visit. if you can catch the park at a time when it’s not too busy like when it first opens or in colder weather it’s truly an amazing experience. there’s so many little stands and things to do here i don’t think it would ever not be fun for me. i’ve been to a lot of different theme parks and while they’re fun i don’t think anything will ever top sdc for me.
Lived in branson all my life and even I couldn’t remember the layout of SDC till I started working there. Best part of working there you might ask, the 50% off on all food!
I went in 2020 and I can't wait to go back to this park. After Cedar Point, this park and Dollywood are my next 2 favorites. I really need to go for the night rides on Outlaw Run and Time Traveler as that wasn't an option on the day I went in 2020. Great review!
I’ve missed your content lol ❤️ I just stopped by your channel to see if I wasn’t getting notifications or something because I feel I haven’t seen videos the last couple weeks lol know you’re appreciated❣️
I live a bit far from here but try to visit every other year or so. Probably my favorite park in existence since it has both one of my favorite coaster lineups and best atmospheres combined.
Growing up going to SDC I never realized how lucky I was to have such an amazing park nearby. It’s wild to me that cinnamon bread is so popular! I have never tried it! My families go to was always funnel cake! I can’t recommend moonlight madness enough riding outlaw run, first row, in the dark was amazing!
I think Silver Dollar City has better theming than Disney or Universal. It isn't even theming. It ACTUALLY IS a western cowboy town. Plus it has a FREE cavern to explore. I think SDC is the best theme park in America and a great coaster park as well.
@7:20 I would like to mention too while we all got our preferred favorites. My go-to for night rides at the park is Powderkeg. Experiencing that sudden launch and shooting over that first and 2nd airtime hill into complete darkness in the woods is freakin AM-A-ZING.
Went here a couple weeks ago with my grandparents when I was visiting them in Arkansas. (we went to Branson for a day) were getting some frozen custard and this guy gave us his 2 day tickets because his daughter's didn't feel like going a second time. I loved the train, flooded mine was pretty cool I went on that one log flume type ride twice. We got some of the taffy on the way out. Sucks I didn't end up seeing those animatronics. 8 1/2 out of 10.
you should go during winterish/christmas season, so many christmas lights, huge 70 foot tree, the train ride changes completely, teaches kids about christmas, very fun to ride the rides aswell as it's very dark
Wow, this review could not be any better timed. Our family is thinking of going there for spring break. It's nice to see a review that takes Covid restrictions into account.
Taylor... thanks for the great review of this gem of a theme park. I have been going to SDC since i was a kid and have so many awesome memories of past visits. I have to say that there has never been a visit that has in any way disappointed. My fave rides are Fire in the hole, flooded mine and powder keg. Branson is a super cool area to visit too with plenty of things to do once you are out of SDC. Keep up the great work and bringing us good content that is well put together, delivered and brought to all of us enthusiats. Stay safe and healthy! Jeff G in Chicago P.S. I am also a HUGE Fan of your friend from the UK, Shawn Sanbrooke.
I've been going to this park since I was a baby, so I never really considered the layout to be confusing. I know that place better than most know they're own house.
This year me and my family went here and had the time of our lives! We came last year and I didn't go on any of the intense roller coasters. So I sat there and watched my family have a blast, I wanted to go but I hadn't experienced going upside down or drops. When we came back this year my mom got the courage to attempt time traveler. She said it wasn't that bad, so I tried it and I absolutely loved it! If your scared of roller coasters don't be, their amazing. Time traveler is the best intense one to start with trust me!👍
The park looks great. I tried to check out the website but it is not working and don’t know why. I was afraid the park was closed, but watching your vlog I’m calm now..LOL. I have definitely to visit Dollar City and hope this pandemic ends soon. You mentioned we need more days to see all the site but it is possible to get a good view in one day? to get all thrill rides? I’m from Brazil and congrats for you video and informations. It helps me to make my theme park itinerary in different parts of USA, considering I have been in most parks in CA and FL abs now want to see other locations!! Best wishes!!
My grandparents worked there way back in the day. When the Powder Keg came out I was able to ride wildfire over 40 x straight in a row after the first 10 times he stopped making me get off the ride to walk around because there was literally no one else
Used to go every year as a young kid. Remember on the train, when you first get on. This guy was telling you about the train and the show and he says, "see that string up there? That is for emergencies only. You pull it, it stops the train. And if there isn't an emergency, I'll make one." And he holds up a rifle. I miss going to branson and silver dollar city😂😂
I love time traveler I just came back from Branson I love it🙂😊⭐️❤️! My dad wanted to go on marvel cave I was able to ride wildfire but I said no everyone thought I was 6 I’m 8!😂 mystic river falls is so Fun the train is so funny!! The flooded mine is cool! The cinnamon bread is yum!!
The first sounds I heard as entered the park were the sound of a hammer hitting hot metal in the blacksmith shop, and the sound of Rizzoli Locomotive Works Nathan Reading 6 chime on the train. I got to ride Mystic River Falls when it first opened and I remembered getting drenched but my mask (yes this was in late 2020) was dry and the best thing I got there was 2 massive turkey legs
Big fan of the channel! Ever thought about doing a “Top 10 Family coasters” list!? Could really highlight some coasters that many enthusiasts look over or underestimate and would be a very interesting list! Keep up the great work!
I am from and have lived in Kansas all my life, but have, unfortunately, only been to Missouri like 3 times. Being poor and having no one to travel with sucks (and I have severe depression and anxiety, so doing anything by myself is practically impossible for me). I have sadly only been to SDC once when I was 12 for a Girl Scout trip. There was only like 2 rollercoasters there then, and I only got to ride one (Fire in the Hole), as the second one got shut down just as I was next in line and that was when my troop decided to leave (it may have been when the park itself was closing for the day, but I can't remember). I missed out on so much and they have so much more there now that I really want to go back.
I went when the time travler was finished being made and im oing again in a few weeks. I can agree with all of this. I love it so ,uch and I cant wait to ride the rollar coasters again!
As an employee of Silver Dollar City I agree with everything he is saying about the city. Great job 😊😊😊 I’d also be glad to answer any questions you might have about the city to the best of my knowledge.
I had the wonderful opportunity to visit my first ever amusement park last year really glad it was Silver Dollar City stayed in Branson for a week with my family, absolutely loved it I'd also recommend visiting White Water, Talking Rocks Cavern, and going on the Branson Scenic Railway, which actually goes into Arkansas. There's also a waterfront zipline called Parakeet Pete. Didn't go on it yet it seemed fun
My big 2020 vacation was supposed to be to Missouri and especially Silverdollar city. Covid had other plans. I’m set to go in the middle of May this year. I’m not missing it this time. I cannot wait to go there!!!!
@@judsonkr I “think” The week I was supposed to go they weren’t open yet? I don’t exactly remember but I know the week I had off I couldn’t go, I think that’s why but I don’t really remember anymore. Well I got to go in 2021 and I loved it very much.
My family has come to this park ever since it opened. By far the best park in the United States. I have more fun here than I do at Universal or Disney!
