Just went there for two days, in part because of this review. It's outstanding in every way, and you give an excellent and accurate overview. My only add would be that Thunderation was extremely bad in the 2nd to last car...painfully rough, actually. But SDC was superb with that one exception. My favorite and most memorable coaster was Powder Keg, because of its unique and intimidating launch. Did the lantern tour and almost everything in this review, all were excellent.
Thank you so much. Your so thorough, and I was looking for a theme park to go to besides the regular Disney Land and Knott's Berry, and your review helped me decide. Great review!!
Knowing how many parks you've been to, saying that this is your 3rd favorite park in the WORLD is very high praise, but it makes me so thankful it's only 45 minutes away. However, I take this park for granted so badly, but I always look forward to stopping in for a while and doing some of my favorite attractions.
Haven't been there since I was a kid, maybe 15 years ago or so? I remember Buzzsaw Falls was in operation, but I was't brave enough to ride. Wish I had in retrospect. I loved Fire in the Hole, Thunderation and the train. I can't wait to return seeing just how many new great offerings it has. I live in St. Louis, so should be in easy trek. I went to Dollywood last month, and it was fantastic. Can't wait to return to their flagship park.
After visiting Dollywood for the first time last month, I am beyond excited to visit this place in the future. I don't know when it will be, but with how impressed my parents were with Dollywood and me telling them that they might like this place even more, I think I've convinced them to come here sooner rather than later.
I am so excited!!! I'll be going In a week. First theme park I've been to In 10 years. And valleyfair has been the only amusement park. So I am really happy I get to Come here!!!
In my opinion, this is probably the most, (or at least 2nd most) immersive theme park in North America. I love the cave, I love the coasters, especially TT, OR, and PK. I can't wait until I can visit this park again! Great video! Also, I feel your pain with Mystic River Falls, when I went in October I had to wait 45 minutes, and when I finally reached the station it had technical difficulties and closed for the rest of the day
I've gotten to Cedar Point and SFMM but I've heard that this is the best non pop culture park Amusement park in the U.S.A. (Ha ha! ;) ) by more than just you. Time Traveler, Outlaw Run and Powder Keg look awesome. Wildfire looks pretty good too: It actually has a car 0 which B&M coasters usually don't have unless they're hyper coasters, which is another reason the 1st drop is more like a B&M hyper coaster drop. With a drop of 155' it's bigger than one or two B&M hyper coasters in Asia: Hollywood Dream: The Ride and possibly also Flight of the Himalayan Eagle Music Roller Coaster in China. Also: the rest of the park isn't only not annoying: it's beautiful. I hope to get there some day. Thanks for posting, this video; I enjoyed this review.
My old school used to have field trips to SDC all the time; it was under the guise of ‘educational’ because of all craftsman and demonstrations. It quickly got phased out by the time I was in high school and classes didn’t really have field trips anymore.
We are huge Disney fans and take a trip down to Disney World every year, but we are only four hours from SDC and hold season passes. I can honestly say that SDC's Harvest Festival and Old Time Christmas rival Disney. Aside from being gorgeous at Christmastime, SDC has some really outstanding shows - the best of the year. A perfect excuse to duck inside, especially on those cold days. And walking around SDC for the Harvest Festival feels like stepping straight into Halloweentown. It's amazing, both during the day and lit up at night!
I'm with you on the cinnamon bread; I don't really care for it. I'm one of the very few people who actually likes Dollywwod more than Silver Dollar City. But SDC is still one of my all-time favorite parks, for everything that you mentioned in this video. I also love great shows at a park, and while I feel that Dollywood is the best in that category, SDC is not far behind. I love that I have this park just a 4-hour drive from home.
Knotts and Disneyland being my home main 2 parks that I have visted well over 100 times each...Silver Dollar City , Dollywood , Holiday World and Lagoon Park all are the main stand out parks I want to visit now...there are a few others , but suffice it to say , as much as I love coasters , I am a major dark ride fan! Love having a nice park and themeing and good food is always a big plus! We were going to go to Lagoon in June of 2020...but yeah , that didn't happen...and no plans to go this summer either...hopefully one day soon can get there and then out to the other parks around the country I want to check out!
Of all parks on my list. Silver Dollar City is ar the top. I am intrigued by all the coasters, but that's not all. I am also interested in everything the park has to offer.
This park is great! I love coming here once or twice a month alongside Six Flags St Louis. This is definitely the best park in Missouri and probably in the top 3 for the best theme park in the world. I always have a lot of fun when I come here
Took my family there for the first time the second and third day it opened back in March. First day (Thursday) my girls and I nearly froze our rear ends off. We only got rides on Thunderation and Fire in the Hole as everything else was closed. Friday was a beautiful day and EVERYBODY came out to enjoy the park. We waited 2 1/4 hours for Time Traveler but Outlaw Run was only a 30 minutes. The other rides were over an hour wait. We did ride TT again at the end of the day 1 1/4-1/2 hour wait. I will have to say if you want a break from the park and food lines are long (which they were on Friday) try Molly’s Mill all you can eat buffet tucked off to the right as you enter the park. Southern cooking will not disappoint you.
It’s refreshing to eat ‘real’ food at an amusement park. We basically had the entire back of the restaurant to ourselves. An oasis to recharge for the rest of the day.
Cedar Point is also located in the Midwest...SDC is a great park with great theming, but they would need about 3 or 4 more great coasters to compete with CP as the best amusement in that region. Now if you said the best west of the Mississippi? It's easily top 3 and would be a lot of peoples' favorite.
It's a coin flip if I prefer this or Cedar Point. Cedar Point has the deeper ride lineup, but Silver Dollar City has a better atmosphere and less crowds to cope with plus great rides too.
There's a ton of parks in the Midwest, I've been to some in Ohio (Cedar Point and Kings Island), Indiana (Holiday World and Indiana Beach), llinois (Six Flags), and Missouri (Six Flags and Silver Dollar City). My favorite by far is Holiday World.
I wanna go there so bad, it's just so hard to get to! I'm thinking of flying in somewhere and just doing the drive with a rental. What would you say are the best parks within a few hours to pair it with?
There is the Springfield airport an hour north of the park as well, which I believe is serviced by about 12 different locations. Still pretty small, but you have more options than the one in Branson
16:59 Hey man, I actually grew up over seas as a little kid before coming to the U.S and have even spent a ton of time in Japan since then as well. I don't like overly sweet things either to include Dollywood's Cinnamon bread and soda. I love burgers and skillets and fries and such but things like Hershey's chocolate or Dollywood's Cinnamon bread simply make me feel like I have to drink a quart of milk after 1 bite.
Good stuff per usual. One thing would be that it's actually pronounced O-sage, like the plant not O-saw-jjj. Oh-sss age. Can't wait to get there this summer
It's definitely up there as one of the greatest parks, but I'm legit surprised you put it in the top 3. I personally think USJ and Islands of Adventure destroy this park in rankings, but the fact that this park is even in contention with those and Disney speaks volumes
@@CanobieCoaster Thanks! I'm going in June on a Friday and it's hard to tell how busy it'll get or be on a Friday. I think since I'm not a local and the park is like 1000 miles away from me, maybe I'll bite the bullet and decide to get it when I make it down there. Gotta squeeze every little bit of time!
Best park in the Midwest... all of my home parks just got a slap in the face by Silver Dollar City. I need to still experience Silver Dollar City so maybe it is, I just haven’t experienced it yet. However my time at Dollywood was great so Silver Dollar City is at minimum at the same level of expectations as Dollywood.
i feel like such a loser saying this but i wish they sold alcohol.... I’m one of those people that likes a little something to calm my nerves at parks, and dry parks are a real buzzkill for adults enjoying themselves on a weekend, ya know?
