That’s right ,there is a very evocative photo of 60014 Silver link on the scrap line at Doncaster in March 1963 still intact but rusting away complete with nameplates ,as a train spotter in the late 50’s and 60,s saw her and the other silver named A4s on a regular basis Silver link /fox/king and quicksilver,happy days!
I can imagine that one passenger who is head probably bit out just to feel the wind wizz next to him and right onto his face as the Locomotive race along the line, such beautiful moment to be honest
This was shot for cinema patrons of that era - pre-television. It was just one news report in probably 9 or 10 of them, so the screen time was limited. The news films of 'Pathé' and 'Movietone News' had to get as much in to the time alloted in the cinema schedule, not forgetting 'next week's feature' and the adverts. Yep, adverts even in those days. Pearl & Dean come to mind as one source. This wasn't intended to be a steam loco spotter's wet-dream!
