I'm interested in the part that connects to his torso.. The arm bit must insert into something that allows him to relax and be well balanced. Very cool illusion and it is harder than it looks to "hang out" all day amongst random strangers who aren't always polite.

He is definitely one of the best street performance artists I have seen. The combination of visual, creativity and stamina makes for the best performance. He is great with kids and makes for a great trip to Covent Garden. I once saw some kids nick the Roman Warriors performer's money once - bloody hell, he gave chase barefoot and got his money back!

For those who don't understand, the jacket has a body brace in it. The arm brace connects to the body brace, so there's very little strength required in order to just sit there. (See the fiddling inside jacket to connect things) Leaning forwards probably is the only thing that takes real effort. Beautiful technique, clever design.

This guy is awesome! Takes talent to make a magic trick great. Not easy what he us doing.

He's hooking the rod at the end of the fake arm onto a bracket that's inside of his coat when he reaches in, of course, he drops the glove just inside of the jacket to do this at about 4:00 the girl is hiding the fact that while he is doing this he is tip toeing to raise his self up to accomplish that, then he puts on the other glove. I believe part of the hinge that's in his jacket is showed at 1:20 laying inside of the wooden case lid. Not sure if his left arm is actually in the sleeve of the jacket or not but it may be to achieve the leverage he is accomplishing, the reason the camera man turns away is so that he won't reveal the fact that he did tip toe getting onto the hinge while the girl also hides it. If you notice when he rotates up and comes back down he has one foot straight and the other bent down showing me that he very well did tip toe in order to lift himself up to insert the metal rod into the hidden hinge, and on to the bracket hidden inside his coat sleeve which attaches to the hinge inside of the jacket. This is what I see, what do you think?

The guy got an special equipment inside the jacket wich we never saw. This equipement must got a rotatory mechanism wich allows him to change his body positions. The trick is that without the jacket you could see that the left arm support is connected with the entire body and the jacket is the "Smoke" to cover this.

Even knowing how it is done doesn't prevent it from being magical. Still simply amazing and fantastical to watch.

the magic happens right at 4:40 where he attaches the piece connected up his arm, to his body harness. You can see him pushing the two pieces together, but still hidden from the crowd. But damn, this is the best one of these types that I have seen and the dude still works his ass off to do this trick. And even though he already has a crowd, most will not understand what they are looking at as he sets up. Hats off to him.

3:54 shows the device connected to the shovel handle that will connect to his body harness under his silver jacket. 4:40 he uses left-hand to connect shovel to body harness. Thus, he can no longer use his right hand to help put his left glove on.

There is no secret, just hard work and strength.

Even with the mechanical rig, that is a hell of an endurance test.

He’s wearing a vest like support that attaches to the end of the metal piece coming off the shovel handle.. it supports his entire weight and he just uses his hand/arm to move him to the different positions like when he goes vertical to thank the coin droppers.. Its very cool and he’s a wonderful performance artist. This is much better than the guys in India who just hover in place with similar device..

Of course there are always a trick, or technique, behind performers like these. Just like with magicians. But just like with magicians, or a good movie, I really don’t want to know how it is done. Not because I am not curious, or don’t have a small idea of how it is done, or don’t believe in knowledge. It is because I like to watch the performers, the magicians or the good movie, and just be spellbound, fascinated and thrilled, in an everyday and a world where so much is explained and where there is very little room for magic and mysteries. And just enjoy it. 😊

the jacket has a strong wire frame in it that has a electronic mechanism which is attached to the handle. it rotates the handle which is tightly attached to the wire frame
