@@andym28 For years I have been trying to find out who wrote AND orchestrated this song. This is a forgotten masterpiece that deserves more recognition
@@GianBerselli check this interview ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_q-gMPYT7Vo.html they disscuss how neon ballroom got recorded in general and also talk a bit about specific tracks. he mentioned here that a guy called larry( i think he talked more about him in some other interview) wrote the piano parts which were later perforrmed by David Helfgott.
@@ruthandres6588 I’m with you there, there’s a couple of total gems on it, but at the time I hated it compared to Frogstomp and Freak Show... Now when I look back, this song is unreal
I’m 38 years old and I still listen to Silverchair. As big as they got, I think they could have been bigger, but in a way they remain in the cool band category. Those that know, know how good they are. This performance is amazing. I have the ultimate admiration to the three of them
Not only is DJ meteoric, he’s an awesome guy. Met him in Adelaide after Big Day Out- he wanted to hang and talk shit with us, such a genuinely nice guy
It's once in a decade, that appears someone that can compose, play and sing perfect songs like this. He doesn't need to prove anything to no one anymore. Truely a God of music, brilliant. Remembers me of Jeff Buckley in so many ways!
One of best songs ever created. I hope one day this guys or any good musicians plays this with a orchestra. I think it was Silverchair's biggest flaw not to manage a concert with real strings.
I'm an American. I remember seeing these guys performing Tomorrow on SNL. I was a couple of years older than them at the time. I was so proud of them even then. These little prodigies making great tunes. To see what they became over time is just awe inducing to me. My friends and I knew they were special even then. To see what they grew into is phenomenal. At a loss for words. Brilliant performance!
I grew up in the same town, same age as these guys, hung out in the same circle and hated them when we were teens. I think it was mainly jealousy as I thought my band was better and that Chris wasn't a great bass player and rode on Daniel and Bens coattails. I have learnt in time to respect them for their brilliance and enjoy all their work from frogstomp to young modern. Of all of the guys Ben is the most down to earth and actually speaks to you as an equal, Chris was a dick when younger but has mellowed and Daniel will always be a bit of a diva but rightly so he is the reason they went as far as they did.
I remember hearing this when I was 18, and I’ve always hummed the melody he does during this performance. Hummed it to myself, hummed it to the children I worked with in the daycare, and now hum it to my son. It’s just incredibly soothing, which I find irony with it being such an emotional song.
Love the instrumentals here-Daniel always thought up these twisty twirly pieces of music in his head. This man is a prodigal genius who just happens to be the most scorching hot guy on the planet...sigh💋
Bens drumming is insanely good. I don't think people understand his importance. As great as Dan is, they all need each other. The sign of a great band.
Should've done more songs like this one... Then they would've been as huge as Muse is today... Silverchair are really really underrated... Seen them live twice in '99. Great live band!
Daniel Johns is such an amazing Artist. This man inspires me a tremendous amount and to this day. After watching His interview with Andrew Denton where he spoke in depth about his struggles. can relate to him. Can't wait for that opera but i wont be disappointed if it doesn't get done cause he don't owe me anything. Daniel Johns is a Genius Thanks for upload
He is truly a maestro! He knows what he is doing where most people don't know what he is doing or what he is after and say the same damn typical response! "omg! i hate this pop stuff! play tomorrow!" Silverchair is constantly growing and I will keep following them every step of the way. Mark my words! Been a fan since the Innocent Criminals days.
Wow...last post was so so long ago. My soul has been marinating and maturing for some time now. I was born before SilverChair-s "Frogstomp" and i was born after it. However, here it is Oct 19th 2018 and I have been reborn again. Not the best live performance of this song; but its a great band. Trio power. Im actually surprised so many folks hate on Daniel ...like he has intentionally done something to harm them or their ego. They were an amazing Power Trio at that time and age. And DAMNIT my band PISTOLERO is going to do a one of their greats, with a little tiny einsy einsy bit of future influence added. It is 2018 of course. If a TRU fan of SC ...PISTOLERO...will be paying homage very soon to the great power trio!
There are the lyrics if you want to sing along ^^ [Verse 1] Erupt again, ignore the pill And I won't let it show Sacrifice the torture Orchestral tear cashflow [Verse 2] Increase, delete, escape, defeat It's all that matters to you Cotton case for an iron pill [Chorus] Distorted eyes When everything is clearly dying [Post-Chorus] Burn my knees and Burn my knees and Burn my knees and [Verse 3] Emotion sickness Addict with no heroine Emotion sickness [Chorus] Distorted eyes When everything is clearly dying [Instrumental Break] [Post-Chorus] Burn my knees and Burn my knees and pray Burn my knees and Burn my knees and pray [Bridge] Get up Get up Get up Get up Get up Get up Get up Won't you stop my pain [Guitar Solo] [Verse 4] Emotion sickness Addict with no heroin Good things will pass (it helps with excess access) Lessons learnt Emotion sickness Lessons learnt
Makes you wonder how 3 friends were able to perform such epic shows, especially at 14-15 when it started. Ben was right, he and Daniel had such a strong connection. It's sad how it turned out. The love these 3 shared shouldn't of stopped like that
You had to have been from our era to experience this for the first time. Incredible was the only thing….then DIORAMA came out. 🤯🤯🤯🤯. I’m 45 just like them. A fan since 15 yrs old and they are still my favorite
I relate too every song on the neon ballroom through my who life as a sufferer of depression the medications the push a pull being on them I'm just glad I'm.not the only person who can feel this
I hope that everyone here is okay. Please be safe and remember that people care about you, even if it may not feel like it sometimes. If you are feeling troubled, maybe professional help is the answer, or talking to a trusted friend about what you are going through. I wish you all the best.
As a 30 something dude from Australia who’s played in bands my whole life these guys were maybe my biggest influence. I got neon ballroom the day it came out and this was my favourite song. It’s funny now I’m older I can hear the mash up of pearl jam and Metallica in their stuff from this era. At the time I just thought it was rad lol
how on earth are silverchair compared to nirvana? their first two albums were grungey but still didn’t sound like nirvana. both bands are amazing in their own way
yes you are right. whatever music they play or do there is still silverchair and daniel johns spirit within the song or music. They are doing the best they can do to express their feelings not to please people or make people appreciate what they are doing or who they are. silverchair is one of the legendary band of all time they are now part in the history of music. too bad they split up. :(
