Silvio Berlusconi, the former Italian prime minister who was a force in politics there for years, has died at 86. He had recently undergone treatment for leukemia. CBS News' Chris Livesay takes a look at his often controversial life.

First became acquainted with Berlusconi 18 years ago when I went to Italy for time and was gobsmacked when it came to his shameless, explicit corruption and general skeeviness that he made no attempt to hide. I remember thinking the American public could never, would never accept this in a president. My, how times have changed.

when you ask, is it 'corrupt' to be shacked up with some hot chick that might be 20 years younger than you, the answer is not really, pending a couple of variables which would make it so. its not like shes 40 years younger, or anything like that. plus, you didnt pay for any arrangement and you refused payment for your services. but many aspects of european culture, and billionaire standards, are used to being judged and dramatized.
