Couple of things, had to record on 2k monitor, and with a splitter and capture card colors are a bit dull. Game looks great, just hard to capture that with my setup.
Great great game 9/10 for me. Improvements moving forward: 1. Load screen at the track needs to be in the pit area. Not at a random shed 2. Cars involved in a yellow get moved to the back of the field 3. Changing track conditions 4. Race attrition & DNFs especially for AI cars who crash 5.Special events like Knoxville Nats or The dream with different formats 6. Better designed AI cars and improved options in the paint booth
Changing track conditions is very unlikely. What's more likely though is reduced handling throughout the races, which sort of fills that. Sure it's not perfect but it's something in that direction. The OP mentioned the Supercross games, I know that's the one thing people have been yearning for in moto games but it's just too hard to program for these small niche game developers. There are a handful of things that could be very easily changed/fixed.
Amen. For twenty years WoO 2002 has been the best single player Sprintcar game on the market, but iRacing and Monster Games together have come out swinging. Easily the spiritual sequel to that game.
Man, I grew up with DTR and Dirt to Daytona. One of my favourites to play when I was a kid was Sprint Cars:Road to Eldora. Great seeing this game and glad you decided to record it!
My mom used to work with one of the 305 drivers you scrolled by. Really cool to see them add real people even at the lower levels and not just random names.
Love it. Nick says he wants a game to play and not make content for, then does exactly what he said he was not going to do. All joking aside I am glad you did make the content. I was very curious on this game and I feel like your opinions line up with mine. This game looks like the SRX game, but with different cars. However I really enjoyed SRX so I am okay with that. Thank you for sharing your opinions and for the content. I enjoy it a lot.
Very strong game. Certain improvements should be made if they do more games like this in the future (especially the damage because its bad), but, this is a hell of of an entry. Cant remember the last time i was so hooked on a racing game
@@kneebon5 for sure. The crashes themselves in the game work very well actually, but the lack of damage (especially to the AI which seems to never get any) kinda makes it weird. Would like to see cars be able to be eliminated from damage atleast.
Nascar heat 5 did a good job I think personally. If they combined with Iracing. I think you could be looking at nascars best game yet...but I could be wrong.
I played their titles as a kid too. I was shocked when I returned to play that game ~6 years ago and it still had an active community at that point. Definitely a forgotten classic.
Thanks for the upload man. I was curious as to how they’d do with a console game and hopefully they can take over more of the market , looks pretty good!
Great vid Nick. Pity we won't get to see you do your whole career in this game as I am sure there will be a lot of interest but can understand how difficult it was for you to even get this out with the splitter and all. The engine sound was a tad loud compared to your voice. Could hear you but it only just. I'm looking forward to getting it but as it stands no stores here in Australia are stocking it from what I can find so will have to just buy from Playstation Store.
Sorry to bombard you with comments tonight my man, but 2 other things stuck out to me, 1 being, I mentioned Husets in the other comment, Grant Park from what I can tell is an amalgamation of Huset's and Jackson Motorplex (both owned and operated by the same guy). Essentially it's Huset's "grounds" and Jackson's Track. The towers, grandstand on the side of the hill like that, concrete infield, that's Huset's 100%. The racetrack is like Knoxville but shrunk down, And 2, the attention to detail in this game, like when you're showing off the Paint booth, there's a beadlock on the inside of the left rear just like there really is. Who in the hell would ever notice that on the racetrack, but they did it. The Zeuses, the fuel lines, the bolts that hold on the nerf bars and the bumpers, totally right. Even the pins in the wing tree are right. The attention to detail in that regard is outrageous.
Yeah I was worried it would be too difficult with a controller but seems well balanced. My brother has a wheel and says he can feel the car tighten on the cushion better than he can in iracing
Looks really nice. A nice departure from the hustle and bustle of Iracing. Especially when you want to just do some single player racing. Nice introduction video of this game. Thanks for putting in the time for this game Nick. certainly, has my interest peaked.
giving me road to knoxville vibes. would love to see some midgets or something too. i agree with what youre saying about having whelen etc. dirt 2 daytona kinda feel. its fantastic on my series x, blows the tony stewart games out of the water. thanks for doing this review nick i probably would not have bought it otherwise.
Ok so 3rd comment but just wanna say really good video and the game really does look and seem to play amazing for being iracings first attempt at console racing. It's not perfect but damn it looks like so much fun and with the big blocks coming next month I cannot wait. Maybe they can fix some of the things that would put this game over the edge with a few patches/updates. I will be actually buying a physical copy tomorrow and then gonna get it digital on my Xbox series S until I get series X. Thanx for the video.
Looks quite good, although one thing in future if you're looking to do a bit more console racing or videos on this turn the game audio down a bit. Was a bit hard to hear when the engine's running while racing.
ive been talking to austin from armed4gaming a lot about it, just went and got it today and absolutely love it! Just waitign for the shit to download ing so i can do career. Awesome video!
@@kneebon5 oh yeah definetly I have been running the street stocks with a g29 wheel. I'm like 3 seasons in and the car is like 50% upgraded. I hate Kokomo the most. Same for iracing. I hate kokomo and fairbury but i like fairbury in the woo game. Great Game
I remember seeing someone review the game before it came out and the 360 guys were a lot of iracing pro drivers. I guess they need to be unlocked or something idk, but my buddy Tyler Schell is in it so that's cool
Oh yeah I've had it in 305s the two tracks I did here weren't very good at showcasing the ai. Really happy with how they race. Much better than iracing oval ai
Glad to see they finally fixed Tony Stewart’s All American Racing. They attempted it in NASCAR Heat 5 but destroyed the physics. This game looks a lot more polished. If they just fix the throttle control it would be about complete.
your state must not have great locals. That’s why I love living in PA , they included the PA Posse in the game. So it’s awesome to be able to race against them 😊
I downloaded a Dirt Track Racing 2 .iso back in the day. It had a virus attached to it. Still installed and played the game. Just had to deal with the virus first.
Anyone have any thoughts on whether I should buy this if I already have the SRX Game? I don't care about the specific drivers in the game, just wasn't sure if it was a significant enough upgrade
I really wish it had Saturday Night Speedways calendar system. Right now there is no connection between series, no years, it's just separate seasons that don't interact. The management aspect of that calendar would add a lot
Iracing is obviously better, but not really the same type. It's a good getaway game from ratings and rules. Just have fun and work to progress your team on this.
This game looks absolutely amazing. I think I am gonna pick up a copy around Xmas time or so. So I know a dumb question to some but what are the perks of the gold edition?
@@kneebon5 Oh wow I love watching racing from Lucas Oil Speedway on the Roku channel and Pluto TV with Mav TV. I'm amped to get the game I mean the last true dirt game I played was road to Eldora on Ps2 which was around 08 or so. I am excited to play the game and its cool to have such an in depth perspective on it. I like seeing others play and review the game before getting a game. The last time I didn't was Heat Evolution and my God that was bad lol.
Maybe I need to buy an Xbox and give this a shot. It might just replace the iRacing. I enjoy the iRacing but it is too expensive when you spend most of your time getting run over, or screwed by a system that can not seem to manage a simple dirt race. I am a Playstation guy but sadly the G920 wheel that I purchased is set up for xbox. :( lol Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the iRacing when it works properly, but there are too many people who drive over their heads in it. I pay to race, not get crashed. Accidents happen, but come on man! I am not the fastest guy on the block, I am older and slower than I used to be, which pretty much makes me a moving target no matter how hard I try to give room. lol Thanks for making this video, I have been waiting for someone to create a more honest video around this game. Most of the ones that I have watched have been more like sales pitches for it.
I think if you like the competitiveness of iRacing this won't be able to fill that gap. Yes when you get wrecked it sucks, but winning against real people just gives that extra rush compared to winning in this game. I did the same with my TS-XW didn't get the playstation version and so can only run controller with this game.
as a PC sim racer that still loves to play games with a controller (even with FPS games), it's incredibly disappointing to not see this game released on Steam. I've been an iRacing subscriber for 10 years, and haven't gotten any official word as to why this game isn't on PC. People like to say "because iRacing is on PC, they don't want to compete with themselves". I don't want to buy that explanation. I want to play an arcade racing game on my controller. I don't have a gaming console.
i have three real complaints. everything else is just nit-picky. 1. the tracks need to change during a race. 2. there needs to be a penalty for driving bad and crashing. part of what made WOO sprints car 2002 so paranoia inducing and awesome was that you never felt safe in that game. any lap you could actually do any number of things to damage your car and then you were screwed. the damage system in this game could really use improvement. 3. some of the fantasy tracks just didnt need to be in the game. yes, many of the fantasy tracks actually resemble ( and im sure are based on) real tracks but many are just unnecessary, in my opinion. overall, though, this game is on the same shelf as WOO 2002, and that shelf is up very, very high.
Yeah the cost of racing isn't there. I wish you had to pick and choose based on distance where to go. Also hate how the different series aren't really connected in time. Saturday Night Speedway did that really well having to choose where you were we going to race.
@@kneebon5 yes. i think the easiest way would have been to literally just have a monthly calender with the events marked on it. if multiple series are at the same track on the same day then you can run multiple classes on that calendar day. and, yes, the cost thing in career mode is just weird, to be honest. nobody is paying 250,000 dollars for a motor to put in a crate late model. and the prestige points gap needed to go from regional to national is actually insanely too large. i think the way they should have handled the travel aspect is to base it on what type of transportation you can afford. for example: open trailer= local (≈ 5k dollars) box trailer= regional ( ≈30k) car hauler= ( ≈200 k) you could then decide which is more important: traveling with a weaker car or staying local and investing all your money in your car. I did career mode for a while and got bored with it. now i am just doing single events and having a blast.
I have a fanatec DD and the cars don't stay straight is it me or the game. I know you have to easy on the has, but the car always starts out just in drive able
Wow this game looks great, might buy it. So I’m finally, finally moved. Probably going to get back to iracing soon because I miss it and I don’t want to wait for a Black Friday deal. I know your league is locked, if it’s even still going I haven’t watched RU-vid in 3 weeks I’ve been so busy. So when I resub I’ll just pop in to watch, should be fun. That is if Ian doesn’t wipe my brand new house off the map in about 12 hours, haha.
@@kneebon5 I’m 15 miles inland from Myrtle Beach, but this storm seems to be hell bent on blasting straight between Charleston and me, so we will see. Supposed to weaken and move through the region quickly. House came with Kevlar storm screens but no one is using them so I think it’s gonna work out.
Maybe this will pull the MArio Kart drivers from iRacing and let the others race! These console users think iRacing is MArio Kart and show no respect toothers!
To me this looks the same as the tony Stewart games but with better graphics. The tony Stewart games were just bad. What sucks is I bought all those one just cuz its dirt, but can't buy this one because it's not on pc
The Tony Stewart's sprint car games are fun, and cheaper if u guys don't have 49$$ buy the Tony Stewart game. This is the same game honestly, but WOo game does it way better. And I can drive as Sammy Swindell really can't beat that lol. Edit: after playing it for a lil while now, Wow this game may be on the same game engine but wow it plays so much better than Tony Stewart's sprint car racing. This is really an amazing game!.
Cross Generation will be available on the Xbox. The PS5 and PS4 versions of the game can not play against each other. However, PS5 users can have the PS4 version installed and use that to play online races with PS4 users. No cross console
Seems to be an american thing to drive just on ovals, eh? The game looks interesting but just ovals seems pretty boring to me...good there's still Dirt Rally 2.0 with its Rally Cross events in it 👍🏻
I want to know your opinion after a month, I'm just not sold yet, I think I need to play it before I buy it, I just dont know, Im scared of another disapointment. I love racing, I play Dirt to daytona,, Nr2003, and the assetto corsa games. I truly hope it is good, Iracing is ok, but people are mean!!! I can keep my car straight but Im slow as molasses, people dont want to give tips, so B lisence in a month irating high at 1600, racing community is kinda like a rotten tomato and I just want a good AI racing game at this point sorry I ranted
This has great AI that you can tune. I've had some really great races with AI. You can pretty much set this game tp whatever you want, which is how it should be.
@@kneebon5 When I get it, we will see, I trust you more than most, if I am disappointed I will never get a console game again, 5 years later I do 😂, Isn't kinda sad that a 19 year old plays a game that's as old has him though...
@@k9burnouts544 console games have been so disappointing for so long. Really hope the new NCAA football game is like this, brings back the the good old days feelings.
@@kneebon5 F1 games have been janked, it's like no one can make a racing game, gran Turismo is trash too, but it is what it is, maybe video games are done for
@@k9burnouts544 yeah GT was fun back in the day everyone pushing for online and ways to get more money out of you. I'm hopeful iracing can get the nascar side of things on console one day.
