Lucio D. San Pedro was the conductor of our band in Obando, Bulacan, Philippines during the early 60s. This is the way the maestro wanted this piece to be played, the "bells tolling" at 4:00 AM, summoning the faithful to church, the "hurried march" to the church-because we are not used to the cold weather, the "peaceful feeling" the moment we sat on the pew and the "GRANDEUR" as we celebrate the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ
galing talaga ni Maestro Lucio San Pedro.. nakakaiyak... sobrang nakakainspire.. PASKO NA MGA PILIPINO!! :)) praise all the filipino musicians all over the world! :)
Bravo! A very wonderful rendition of Prof. San Pedro's masterpiece! It depicts how we Filipinos celebrate Christmas... the 9-dawn masses as we anticipate the birthday of Jesus!
i always post this video on my facebook wall tas we start the MONTH OF "BER"at mas lalo kong naMISS ang pinas now that im working @doha,qatar...but with this song...with perfect performance..you filled in the distance..EXCELLENT!!! THANKS FOR POSTING!!
I remember every note of this Lucio San Pedro masterpiece. We used to sing this every year, every 16th of December. Though I do not read notes that well, I can play the piano using its chords The piece would start from the key of F and would end in A. Anyone interested can ask me for it. Love the song by heart
So Majestic! I was teary eyed listening to Simbang Gabi. It's been almost seven years since I spent Christmas in the Philippines and this is just wonderful! brings back awesome memories.
I really like this! I almost cry to the last part! First time to hear this with full orchestration. Grabe! Very magnificent ang dulo. "Luwalhati! Luwalhati sa Diyos sa Kaitaasan. At sa lupa'y kapayapaan sa mga taong may mabuting kalooban! Aaah!!!" :D
All in all, I think this is a good rendition of the masterpiece. The choir sings with their heart and that is the most important. The definition of "better" rendition of the song would always depend on who is listening to it. Kudos to the symphony orchestra, the choir and the conductor!
@TheDynamicDiDi Thank you so much, TheDynamicDiDi! I am so glad you enjoyed this video! My Father used my Sony HDR-XR520 Camcorder fitted with an external microphone to record this video. That is why the sound came out very clearly and with stereo quality.
@PBSA1974 This is rarely performed in full orchestra, I remember it only onced at CCP by UPCC and PPO conducted by Prof Rey Paguio. Really wanted to hear that full orchestration, the chimes the timpani the brass- makes it sound so festive fit for the real celebration of the song and the season. First video I have seen showing the full orchestration and a good rendition by the Filipino Community and a nice video resolution too. Thanks for posting this nice music video.
para sa akin, bitin man ang luwalhati ok lang maganda parin pakinggan kasi nakanta nila sa abot ng kanilang makakaya, yung may alam sa kanta na ito, contact the choir and teach them kung ano ang inyong nalalaman, other wise manahimik na lang tayo. peace men.
@leu19711 I am very sorry, but I am one of the Orchestra Members and not the Music Librarian, so I don't know where to get the vocal parts. I hope you can find them somewhere. Best wishes!
@computerno1718 Sorry, I will not have any time to provide you a copy of this video. My recommendation is just to download a copy of this from the RU-vid website. Best wishes for your School's Concert in December.
