I have seen and played Whipping Post litterally thousands of times. And, I must say? The guitar work by these two gentlemen on this version is just jaw dropping! Incredible job by both of them! ❤️🎼🎵🎶🎸✌️
I would just like to add - this is a BEAUTIFULLY filmed video. I mean that's just the PERFECT angle of everything that we want to see. Thank you for that.
What a brilliant rendition and what a great sequence of solos. First JD's straight up in your face playing and then Jacks "outside the box" stuff. It complements one another beautifully. Perfection!
Saw an interview where Jack said he prefers the Indonesian made Squiers..’they just feel good’. That’s all that matters folks, if it feels good play your heart out and you’ll find your voice. Don’t waste your money searching for tone..it’s right there in your hands!
JD had his work cut out for him playing Whipping Post with Jack Pearson. A vintage Gibson Les Paul worth thousands and probably a Fender Squier worth (maybe) a few hundred - or it could be a genuine Fender Strat of JDs worth a great deal more, but the point is that's in the hands. We've all seen Jack play an Asian made Squier and blow minds. Great video.
+Jeff McLeod I think this particular Squire was $120 from a pawn shop. His last couple were $100 each. He makes them sound like they cost several thousand each.
I had the privilege of seeing J.D. perform this here in Wisconsin last month and he blew me away since I had no idea who he was. I wish I had captured that performance and thank you so very much for catching this for us. What a jam!!!
I want Jack...to come over to my house..and teach me...every single note he played!.. THAT wouldn't be too much to ask??...Huh?.. Would it??... ;) LOL. LORDY!.. ;)
sometime they'll give a war and nobody will come, because everyone likes to listen to music and love peace and animals. Mother's Friendship 5 X 5 Mother's Friendship 5 5 5 5 5 Fran Records Costa Rica, USA, Paraguay, Philippines, Spain and Germany
What's up with the sound man ? ? Didn't they have a sound system powerful enough to provide enough volume for the mikes . . . . . sorry for the bummer, but the sound man should've known and had pre-sets for each song. Guitar work was absolutely the best. Jack continues to amaze even the most seasoned of guitarists wherever he goes . . . . . .
ya know...squier guitars aren't that bad. The classic vibe series are a great example. They're still holding their value. I see what everyone is saying, and it impresses me too. But we're all guilty of buying into the name of something, and the "prestige" that comes with it.
I've got a classic vibe strat 50's and it's by far the best "low end" guitar i've ever played, although it does have 90's fender pickups in it. Paid £300 and is easily the best guitar I own!
I was at this show at the hi - watt just a few weeks ago probably just a few feet away from whoever shot this in front of the stage maybe the girl I said looked like the go - gos drummer ? I meant the bangles actually not go gos lol anyway - simo jams !
Disney absolutely loved Pearson. They were wonderful partners in ABB, but Jack,a rare couldn't take how loud Dickey,s playing got. Says he had to go to docs, so quit. A shame.
The taper was well inside the house stacks and within a few feet of both guitar amps. If the taper had been further away the PA was actually fairly well balanced at this show. I know that because I was there, walked the room while JD was playing to hear the mix and it was a good as it could be in that room. Then during Jack's sit in, I'm right beside the taper and we are both just a few feet away from JD. I'm Jack's cartage guy
JD is working too hard. He's great but pay attention to Jack. His fingers do the walking and talking instead of his whole body. JD does have a good voice though.
+Winston Tucker Jack's special indeed, but I don't see anything wrong with putting one's whole body into a performance if that's what it takes to bare one's soul
Why do you care what kind of body language a player uses as long as the sound as there? Look at how stoic Derek Trucks is and compare that to the moving around that Warren Haynes does. The product is the tone, the notes, and the feel--not the gesticulations and mannerisms.
