For the past four seasons, Simon Baker has played the charming but troubled Patrick Jane on CBS's "The Mentalist." But the Australian actor tells correspondent Rita Braver he is nothing like his on-screen persona.
Looove this man. I would love to be his friend. He seems to be such a nice and down to earth guy. Just the fact that he has been with the same woman for almost 25 years, that makes him even more loverble
He's: adorable, genuine, down to earth, sweetly shy, intelligent, talented, sensitive, a gentleman, truly nice...and his love and devotion to his family is beautiful. I rlly love, respect and admire this man.

Did anyone else cry when Simon was talking about why he wanted to be a good father and he stumbled though, "Well because I was from a shi . . not a--not a great . . ." ? I cried, because I can relate. Just try to keep on keeping on for you're kids. I do.
His bloody good actor... How can such a crazy good talent not be recognized. Mentalist is my most favorite show. Thank you, Simon for this iconic potryal of Patrick Jane.
@@-J1999- He didn't get along well with his step father. He said that his parents divorced when he was one or something and that he came in contact with his biological father when he was 18. He says his step father situation was pretty difficult.
He was extremely good in that role, I watched it over and over again. The whole story was very original. Now you can see others using the idea in other movies, but it doesn't work well, because of it was S. Baker personality and his talent, what made it so special. I hope he is going to be in good health for long long time and plays a lot, but I am certain no more Mentalist, it was so uniqe, like no one can play Lucifer the same way as Tom Ellis does. Without him, the whole film series would be a big nothing.
He’s one of the few actors I think it’s extremely handsome! And he has a sweet personality so that’s just more to the pot. I’m watching the Mentalist again right now and i think he’s highly underrated and needs to be in more movies.:)

There are many good actors in the business. But in my 80 years, I have never seen an actor actually become the character as he did as Patrick Jane. The Mentalist is the best series that was ever on television, bar none.
Simon Baker is a true thespian who has honed his craft as an actor. He is a true leading man ! And FYI Simon is known for being a genuinely nice guy to all the grips, craft provider, makeup, lighting, wardrobe and even the cleaning staff treating everyone with dignity and respect which should be a given but the truth is Simon is a diamond in a rhinestone world!
One of my absolute favourite actors. I first encountered him in The Guardian. He was excellent in Margin Call but The Mentalist is where I became hooked. One of the handful of series that is worth watching and re watching. The ending to it was too good; overall from start to finish an excellent package. They don't make shows like them anymore.
This man is beyond any person I have ever seen or known. He is a great human being and extremely humble. And talent! Oh my God! I didn't know a person could be so talented. I think he uses his inner self and personality when playing The Mentalist.
I'm new to the Simon Baker and Mentalist fan club and my admiration of him just expanded over his comments about being a parent. Seems like a great guy and best of luck to him and to his fam. Now that I'm concluding the The Mentalist, I'm going to have to find the next thing to watch him in!
I so agree with you!! The more you find out about him the cooler he is. Such a great husband/father. He's also a good director/photographer and humanitarian. I would love to have just one conversation with him!
I'm in agreement with Simon. I used to tell my our son that being a father is the best "job" in the world. That was when he was a kid. Now, he's a middle aged father with 2 boys and he understands and agrees.
Love him from the Mentalist! In reality, he is and his values are so much more appealing to me. Thank you for being a great actor and a good human being)
I'm so glad that out of all the actors I could have fallen in love with, that I fell for Simon Baker. He's got great values and morals and I know what that's like to not see eye to eye with a parent. He's an amazing person. The world needs more people like Simon Baker :') I love you, Simon!
I dint know anything abt this actor.. After mentalist i adore him. His captivating smile.. how he cries.. How he kills red john... he is so patrick jane. Cant imagine him in any other role.
Simon Baker really has his head on straight. A happy, strong, healthy family is the most important. I have never had that. It would be worth it to me to give up everything I have, to have that family. When you have a loving, strong, happy, family, you have everything.
Yes, he's gorgeous, sexy, let's not forget talented. That's a rare combination in Hollywood. This is one of my favorite interviews with him although I don't like where Braver took it in the end. I, for one, thought The Guardian was a great show, it lasted 3 seasons. Simon is not afraid to be vulnerable and honest, he's got a great spirit!
I love this guy so much. The Guardian fascinated me, even though it was basically a soap. I couldnt take my eyes off it. I guess I have a lot invested in the idea that he is a really good and principled man.
he is sucha cutie. been binge watching the mentalist with mom this quarantine season. haha. psych is still my number one ultimate but i enjoy Jane too. he is so addictive!!! I'm glad he enjoys us Americans haha :)

Seem to be so unpretentious and true to himself in all he does❤️ Completely awesome as my dearest Patrick Jane in The Mentalist. He also shines as actor/director in Breath to mention another splendid work of his🙌
Well done for just brushing over his best ever role as Jeff in Smith with Ray Liotta. That brilliantly written, directed, acted and filmed show got cut after only 7 episodes - because it depicted so-called ‘bad guys’ being smart and winning. And we all know that the purpose of every crime movie and cop show on the Tell Lie Vision is to train the masses to respect law enforcers, never ask for a lawyer, and confess to ‘heroes’ in blue. Patrick Jane was indeed a very interesting character, but Jeff was far more believable. Both are very different from the shy Australian playing them, but his depiction of a feckless surfer with an impulsive and occasionally violent nature as Jeff in Smith is right up there with the best work done by McQueen and Pacino. Thank you for sharing this. It’s odd that despite being a huge admirer of Simon Baker for years, I’ve only just found it.
