Fantastic podcast ! Simon Dunmore is such a smart bloke, I’ve grown up with Defected from the start and feel so connected to everything he talks about. Would love him to write a book 👍
Fantastic content. Couldn't stop listening. Simon Dunmore is a hero of mine so it's great to learn more and more about his journey to give context to that status. I only found the House Culture Podcast today but already looking forward to the next episode!
Back when I was a teenager, my weekends revolved around picking up the latest Defected release on vinyl. What an incredible thing Simon built. Amazing.

I only wish had stayed at Defected… the stuff coming out now is total crap. No one is putting in any effort to make new music… just a bit of sampling of old house tunes. I’m 64 and danced my 30’s years thru MOS and defected. I laugh now when I hear what’s coming out on what was the most defining record label of the house/dance scene.
@@houseculturenet For me as an EX small time DJ in the the 80's Gay scene, I feel kids of today have music only on in the background.....They don't go out of their way to go and actually listen to music. Not many folks are buying tunes, they just share UTUBE rips...yes It's a thing and It's because they have no standard as to how to listen to a well made quality of a song or the sound that it is ment to be played on. Clubbing with phones instead of instant camera (which always had pics of the ground as we were so into dancing) Thank god i still can go back to the wondeful youth of amazing Disco, Soul and Funk! You play any track from way-way back and everyone knows the lyrics.....Play something made now in a years time and no one will know who it is. most track now have an expery date of 2 weeks. SO ZERO QUALITY is being made. Tell me I'm wrong?
