I am lucky enough to have grown up listening to Simon & Garfunkel in the 1960s. Their music continues and the words, the meanings and the impact of their music will live forever.
While serving in the army and returning from a 13 month tour of duty the captain of the airliner played this song. The 400 plus gi's started singing along - still remember the great feeling and song lyrics fit our mood just right.
I received the album that this was on for Christmas when my brother was being discharged from the Army during the Vietnam War. It still brings a tear thinking of him coming home for Christmas that year.
Memories refresh memory. I haven't heard this amazing song in so many and I heard someone singing it tonight, and they take me back in time of when this amazing song used to be playing on the radio back then.
It really is amazing the harmonies they were able to create with just two voices. And if you don't already know, two-part harmony is probably the most difficult, unlike with 3 or 4 part harmony, with only two voices you need to be extremely precise and in sync with each other or you can hear every mistake, every bit that's out of sync, it's really hard, and Simon and Garfunkel do it incredibly well.
For certain there are two songs more beautiful written - but this one gets to me and makes me want to say it too is written beautifully. The harmonies they had were just the best - I love Simon & Garfunkel ❤❤
