It reminds me of a piece of advice I read recently: "I've trained myself to turn feelings of fear into 'courage time'. So whenever I experience symptoms of fear or anxiety, I tell my body that those are signs of when it's time to be courageous. After a while that becomes automatic". I've tried it and it's pretty awesome!

And sometimes that courage comes at a cost, sometimes it doesn't. In the end, all that we do comes with a price.

incredible! Is your feeling of change tricking or believing your not looking at death?

Either way, tapping into courage with truth be told. That would be interesting, wouldn't it?

I have found from having to make life and death decisions under pressure from a young age, that 2 things are really critical: What we focus on and what time frame we operate from. When the focus is completely on the performance of the skill/activity and it is combined with a focus on what will happen five minutes after the task is completed, there is no room left for crippling fear or anxiety. Performing at a high level, even with high stress becomes completely doable.

I only feel excited when I'm well prepared, which is rare for doing new things. Good advice to make an effort to think of it as strictly excited. But if your not prepared, i suppose this still helps you make the most of what learning is to be had.

A Tai Lopez advert came on before this video, standing in his "back yard" about to take a tour of his house.... Didn't watch more than 20 seconds but can anyone tell me if the advert ends with "I just live here, what i am really proud of is my book collection"? .... Hahaha

I call my bad days “character days”. When I wake up and I just don’t want to do the things I have to do I just say “I’m going to do all the things I have to do and I’m going to build my character today at the same time.”

Youssef Maaouia Love my life I know this was a while ago but I did great and was one of the youngest people on my freshman basketball team. I started off my high school basketball career good being a very efficient and clutch sharpshooter (probably the best shooter on my team) and developing my other skills too. I hope when basketball comes back I can prove myself as a valuable player in every regard. Thanks for asking, it makes my day that people would respond to such an old comment of mine.

@@danieldennehy3578 that's great to hear man, and I would like to know, did this technique work (saying to yourself that the "nervous" feeling I your body is actually excitement), because I am going on futbol/soccer tryouts this summer for one of the best teams in my country, and from my past experiences playing in high pressure tournaments, I always felt nervous at the start and start vomiting sometimes, so would you recommend this technique? I've been reading lots of books like the Power of now and been Watchung many videos of visualization and everything, I think I am ready but I would just like to know how you felt excitement In that kind pressure

Similar to how people who enjoy reading books or watching documentaries usually find it relaxing, when other people may see it as boring. So would this work to reframe the idea of reading as boring into reading is relaxing ... I interesting what else follows this pattern ...

Kinda of a way of "lying" to yourself, theres a big difference and knowing youre excited, you dont even notice or care of the bodily functions, and to have those reactions cause youre brain is in instinctual fight or flight mod, maybe it's cause of the sheer novelty or stakes or irrationaliy. But you can change those instinctive reactions by analysing the situations - since thoughts create feelings - like astronauts do, i think this is more effective than masking confusion with another name.

Old video but still recommended as I searched for my answer. And I believe there's truth to it. I recently practice "positive thinking" (aka "I like that") when any inconvenient obstacle hit me. Suddenly it doesn't feel bad, even tho it's so simple. And this method here of "This is exciting" is exactly the same, I just never thought about it this way. I'll add that to my repertoire. Thanks!

@captureyourflag
@captureyourflag 2 года назад
Hi! Thanks for sharing. Being questioned and pressured works in an office if you have the right structure - setting expectations on performance goals, aligning on skills needed to perform the job, and having a motivating structure with a supervisor and peers can all contribute. Daniel Pink does nice work on motivation - check out his TED talk. Foundation is paying people enough so money is not an issue.

Oh wait lol, You wouldn't wanna spoil the fun here, shhhh.... AM I or I AM? "Merely looking at change isn't enough. You must see consistency in your works being progressed, instead of potential work flawed into organic berating and dishonesty". That is a great decription I took from this. It's all a matter of speaking the truth once and a while to open their ears, reminding them their speaking with the bro. We fight together. simple.

Excitement + Anxiety of the Unknown = Nervousness So I guess you're weighting the different emotional stimuli a bit different (minimize the focus on the anxiety, maximize the focus on excitement). Focus on the experience, not the possible failure. That's likely what makes a good Olympian in the first place.
