@Jimmy James yes this has to do with her body. It is one thing to be her size as a normal person but it is another thing to carry so much weight as an athlete especially in a sport so physical like tennis. I am sorry that offends. You. Look how built everyone on the atp is, they all have hard muscles. The wta is different as women dont naturally build muscle and most dont look like pros, if you crossed them on the street you wouldn't guess but Halep and Kerbwr you can tell. Taylor is carrying too much weight and for a normal woman that would almost be overweight. So her refusal to get in better shape to better her own career screams laziness. If she has a condition I dont k kw about then fine. Otherwise it is not acceptable. She teached round 4 in one slam. Imagine what she could do if she were actually fit like the rest
TT is so very beautiful to watch. Incredible feel at net. If she get's better - wow. If she did not play BA in R4 i believe she may have made the final.
@@OpeyemiDaramola " But this is Townsend's style. It's no secret. " NOW it's no secret but at the match it was. She didn't play like that against Halep at Wimbledon. She didn't come to the net like that, she switched up her style.
she even said that after the match, that it was really stupid of her not to do that more. I feel like tactically she wasn't well prepared for this matchup.
I watched this match live and it was an absolute belter!! Well done Taylor, you need to take belief from this tournament and start applying your game more consistently on the tour
if halep a top player in the 21st century could lose to journey woman serve and volley townsend, put a young martina with today's rackets and strings and training and so on and she would have halep for lunch!...
My mind immediately went to that serve with no recollection of time. When I played it back, it confirmed it was the one I had in mind. I’m surprised Simona got to it and returned it.
All due respect but... what are you talking about. Townsend always ran up to the net therefore Halep couldn't get around her. Not a style or technique but cheating. Halep played way way better.
I just love that this match shows that her fitness is just fine. Simona is one of the fittest players, if not THE fittest, on tour. To beat Simona on a tennis court you have to be one fit athlete. Taylor looked great and she fought hard. Even gave Bianca, the eventual GS winner, a run for her money. She deserved this win so much and it finally got people off her back about her endomorphic body type. She also has a really exciting game when it’s clicking. 👍🏾
I was elated to see Taylor Townsend back in the WTA tournament. She was surely missed. She played a fantastic game. My desire is to see her win a major championship. You can do it. Just believe and it will happen.
Taylor has lost a lot of weight in the off season and is working on getting in even better shape. That will mean quicker reflexes, faster approaches, and even more damage with her serve-volley game. I hope 2020 is a big year for her! She deserves it!!!
She has the skills and the mentality--a great heart, wonderful athletic ability, creative and a killer on the court. If she can get herself to her physical peak she can be the best player in the world.
Lob lob lob...short stuff is stubborn...she can pass with the best...she passed at 45 percent...Darren Cahill is back...look out wta...congrats Taylor...
I dont think Halep will lose to Townsend too quickly again. She didn't hit any offensive lobs nor any low softer shots to make Townsend volley upwards. Townsend simply got too many easy volleys.
Halep hit way too many balls right at Townsend when Townsend was at the net. If Halep looks at a video of this match she will play Townsend differently next time. Halep used almost no lobs and that allowed Townsend to stay on top of the net. To Townsend's credit, she hit very well off the ground and that compensated well for points she lost at the net.
I really wish for pure a serve and volleyer like Townsend with a relatively good serve to come out of nowhere and completely dominate the WTA tour for 10+ years.
“Is one break gonna be enough for Townsend” ?? I’ve never heard a commentator say that about another player who was a break up in the many, many highlights I’ve watched…
este no es tenis es......pedir puntos en la esquina....eso hizo la townsend por todo el partido ......bfffffffffff...se te quita la gana de ver el partido......
@@darellgrant8753 I was not asking for feedback from anyone I don't know why you took time off been productive to be nasty and rude. I'm comparing her to those two because they are the most successful players of the last 20 years, with combined traits of the Williams sisters she can be unstoppable.
TT need to work on improving her first volley, the angle n depth. Her groundstroke is good enough. Serve n pverhead also good. Try work on more attacking volley...
So refreshing to watch Taylor Townshend play serve and volley. That is so rare nowadays, it remind me of Navratilova & Hann Mandlikova heydays. I wish she can improve much more and start winning big tournaments. She is fearless and very inspiring indeed
It was so nice to see a true all around game played by Taylor. That was amazing. 👏 She literally went old school on Halep and beat her with the oldest tactic in the book. I hope Martina and Johnny Mac caught this one! What a serve and volley performance. Halep also has some awesome defensive skills.. she was amazing too!
I would love to see Taylor randomly win a masters 1000 one year, just how Vesnina did. She has all the tools in her arsenal, the drive, and lately looking like she has the belief to close out a match just like she did here.
Always loved this match. Have watched it several times. it shows that TT can do it all. Congrats on new Baby Boy and Welcome back to Tennis Taylor Townsend!
