I am making these today...don't have disc beads but I am using duo square tilas and 15/0 and 11/0 with fire polish they seem to work ok....you are a fantastic teacher with so many lovely patterns...a classy lady! Thank you!
Sounds great Kathy and thank you! Just goes to show that certain designs will work with a multitude of different substitutions! I'd love to see them when you're done...x
oh jo!!! these are gorgeous , and so easy to follow i had to make myself a pair , did mine in copper and they are just gorgeous !!! ty ty for sharing your talents with us all
You’ve made them already?!?! 😆WOW! In copper I’d imagine they look quite similar to my rose gold ones.... wishing you many happy hours wearing them Karina...x
I love these 😊, so pretty and elegant. Would another rounded duo, like maybe Czechmates Cabochon with the flat back but raised top work? Thanks, keep the inspiration and beauty coming Jo!
I believe that Czechmates cabochons are slightly larger than discduos but only by a millimetre or so. You could definitely give it go but you will need to adjust the number of seed beads you use to surround the cabochon and then in the next round, you’ll need to try and squeeze in an extra “pointer”. I haven’t got any czechmate cabochons at home otherwise I’d give it a try and let you know more accurately... so sorry to not be able to be more explicit...x
As far as I'm aware, discduos only come in one size, measuring about 6mm. If you get some to add to your stash, I don't think you'll regret it, as being double drilled they are so versatile to use in your designs....AND no, they don't pay me to say that! x
Hi Robyn...If the cabochon was exactly the same size as a disc duo, then no problem! If it’s different in size, it may still work you would need to adjust the pattern though. For example, you may need to add in a couple of extra seed beads to surround the cab... and then try and squeeze in an extra part to the next round. You’ll only find out by trying it out. A disc duo is approximately 6mm in size... hope that helps...x
