This is a really cool idea, and I love the Bushcraft stuff that isn't just "how to cook" or how to build a shelter" . Those things are very important, but even when your not in a survival situation, just backpacking or camping, or even in a somewhat tactical situation, this comes in handy, because it saves batteries, and doesn't give off as much light as a flashlight, which could be less than idea if you want a low profile. Candles are underrated , they used to be a precious commodity in the past, could be a light source for a more permanent type of shelter or well ventilated tunnels.

Dang now even when we go camping the Mrs. will be able to fuel her candle bloodlust 😂 awesome!

It's called a "Swedish candle" or "Swedish torch" modified.

That would leave a lot of sticky residue on your axe. I would try to use something else to mix it.

This in another video I watched on your channel reminds me of the same method of making a torch You do the same thing but you either stuff it with pine tar resin or you just burn it and the opening provides a consistent flame I forgot exactly how it goes but it's apparently very very effective and it lasts a long time

Everything seemed TORCH and go for a minute… 😝

Would this not work better if you packed the stick with fibers, cooked out either pine tar or birch oil, then poured it into the fibers? (just spitballing here, it just didn’t look like this candle would burn for very long as constructed in the video)
