SIMPLE CROCHET BERET
HOOK: Size "J" 6MM
YARN: Approx 200 YDS of Cascade Yarns: Lana Bambu in "Gypsy"
Chain 60 (or any multiple of 3 that satisfies the circumference of your head) & Join
Round 1: Chain 1. Complete 1 DC in the 2nd chain from the hook and every chain around [60 DC Total]
Round 2: Complete 1 FP DC in the first DC of Round 1. Mark this stitch with a stitch marker. This marks the first stitch of Round 2. Complete 1 FP DC in every stitch around until you reach the stitch marked with the stitch marker. [60 DC Total]
Round 3: Complete 1 FP DC in the first DC of Round 1. Mark this stitch with a stitch marker. This marks the first stitch of Round 3. Complete 1 FP in the next stitch and in the following stitch complete 2 FP DC. *Then complete 1 FP DC in the next 2 stitches, followed by 2 FP DC in the next stitch. Repeat from * until you reach the stitch marked with the stitch marker. [80 DC Total]
Rounds 4-14: Complete 1 FP DC in the first DC of the previous round. Mark this stitch with a stitch marker. This marks the first stitch of the current round. Complete 1 FP DC in every stitch around until you reach the stitch marked with the stitch marker. [80 DC Total]
Note: If you want the beret to cover more of your head, repeat Round 4 until you are satisfied.
Round 15: Complete 1 FP DC in the first DC of the previous round. Mark this stitch with a stitch marker. This marks the first stitch of Round 14. FP DC in the next 2 stitches. Skip the next stitch. *Complete 1 FP DC in the next 3 stitches. Then, skip the next stitch. Repeat from * until you reach the stitch marked with the stitch marker. [60 DC Total]
Round 16: Complete 1 FP DC in the first DC of the previous round. Mark this stitch with a stitch marker. This marks the first stitch of Round 15. FP DC in the next stitch. Skip the next stitch. *Complete 1 FP DC in the next 2 stitches. Then, skip the next stitch. Repeat from * until you reach the stitch marked with the stitch marker. [40 DC Total]
Round 17: Complete 1 FP DC in the first DC of the previous round. Mark this stitch with a stitch marker. This marks the first stitch of Round 16. Skip the next stitch. *Complete 1 FP DC in the next stitch. Then, skip the next stitch. Repeat from * until you reach the stitch marked with the stitch marker. [20 DC Total]
Rounds 18-20: Complete 1 FP DC in the first DC of the previous round. Mark this stitch with a stitch marker. This marks the first stitch of the current round. Complete 1 FP DC in every stitch around until you reach the stitch marked with the stitch marker. [20 DC Total]

Wouldn't by skipping the next stitch as you close the hat make holes and wouldn't keep you as warm as you would want to?
