Simple DUST And MUD Weathering Effects WITHOUT PIGMENTS - Type 5 Chi-Ri (Fine Molds 1/35)

Abandoned, destroyed or just derelict tanks are usually all about heavy rust effects. Dust and dried mud is often present only in small quantities and this model is no exception. Following historical black and white photographs of this Japanese tank prototype and some color pictures from modern tank scrapyards, we'll create very subtle but authentic layers of dried up mud and dust which has been washed down by rain.

I've done the same thing recently. Earthy effects without pigments since those are for scrubs (and they don't stick on as nicely). Oils and enamels and the Wilder Textured Earth are excellent for these effects and then you don't have to worry about those damn varnishes afterwards....

Cool video Martin. This Tamiya dust mixture works great, I tried to do something similar with Ammo Washable dust colour, and it works not bad but the pain(t) in the ass is that when you need to use enamel thinner over it. It wash out the ammo paint and blend the effect :(
