All you need is a ball and chain on one of those fuzzy slippers, and a hammer to breaks rocks. Beautiful piece of art! Thank You! 2 Questions: 1.) Why did you do wrap around stitches at all (why not backstitch?)? 2.) Why 2 wrap around stitches on one side and 1 wrap around stitch on the other side? (I realize you had more leather on one side, but what about the symmetry?)?

Artie - another fantastic video. I was skeptical about the Brogue work, but it looks great to me. Quick question: how do you keep the glue from causing lines on your edges? I seem to always have a sticky glue line unless I paint the edges….lack of talent or patience I presume 😉

If you have thick glue lines from contact cement, you could switch to seiwa glue - otherwise use a spreader instead of a brush to spread a thinner amount. Brushes out the glue in thick, leaving lines.

It's heaven and magical! Absolutely. The 4 ton would probably be plenty sufficient, however. I just can't say for sure. I've never used it.

I was able to get a pattern for a good wallet, but I think sizing was off. I don't have glue or sewing space. I can add making pieces larger? Thanks

I have a dumb question, why glue at all? aren't the stitches more than sufficient?
@MasconLeather
@MasconLeather 2 года назад
Not dumb. But the stitching is 5mm in from edge. So if no glue, the layers would all separate slightly on edges. Glue literally makes all layers one. One solid chunk of gorgeously burnished leather. No seams showing

I googled prison wallets, and I must say... They look a little bit different compared to this one.

Loving your videos. Started working my way backwards, determined to watch them all but I have a question. When you use the bump jigs, why do you use the yellow ruler and not just use the straight jog to cut against? Sorry if this has been answered already. I haven't gotten to that video if it has. Thanks!
@MasconLeather
@MasconLeather 2 года назад
Thickness of the jig. I like a thinner edge to pull blade against. Either way works

Thanks!!!! 1. I’ve been so busy. I’m trying to squeeze in some filming when I can. Videos take 4-5 days to film and edit. It’s tough. 2. This video was 10 minutes longer than I expected, so I didn’t include any Chloe footage. Maybe I should have.

Excuse me sir, can i ask something? How to sharpening the beveler tool n how to use beveler tool to thin leather?
@MasconLeather

Try stropping first. I rarely sharpen.

I am a proud owner of the bump jigs. True game-changers! Nice work on the video editing too. Question: do you "pre-stress" that Dublin (Derby?) to give it some pullup character?
@MasconLeather

Perfect! Thanks for the support! I didn’t do anything to the leather. That’s how it was from the tannery.
