Mitch, go to the drive on wood site and click on the tab "forum". Then go to "files" then on the second page is "simple fire" Here is the link, hope it works Opps, cannot put a link here. I'll be splitting fire wood tonight and will be using my Simple fire to power the log splitter. Gary in PA
I use a battery powered air mattress pump to start the gasifier. If you are using a one inch air inlet, the largest engine will be about 20 hp. But your run time will depend on how deep your charcoal bed is. The generator shown will run the 6hp log splitter for 1/2 hour. If hooked up to a 20hp engine, it could only run it about 5 minutes.
Are you able to achieve a blue flame off the reactor ? This is very important to me to know. Is there any reason this could not be increased in size for bigger engines? IS their any cleanup to where a larger can would have to be dumped out ?
Gary please kindly tell me what is wrong with my simple fire charcoal gasifier. I constructed the reactor 1 inch inlet and 1-1/4 inch outlet I fill it with charcoal and start the fire after some time i saw smoke coming out the outlet .I fitted a blower to the system. After a while I try to light to see if I am getting gas but nothing what must be the problem
wood contain some sort of oily residues in it that need to be separate from the gas before entering the engine, because otherwise, when the engine will cool down, it will "stuck" the engine, it's one reason why we want to cool down the wood gas. and don't forget that in this video, he want to make something really, really simple to run a gas engine onto the most simple gasifier possible, that's it ^^
