Just a general tip. Wire Guards are a bead weaver's best friend!!! Most jewelry makers use them with the beading wire, but I use them with beading thread too. 1- it protects the beading thread against fraying or being cut (or slipping through a jump ring if you are using one). 2- gives a more 'professional' look to your jewelry because the thread isn't as visible. 3- makes your clasp more pliable (I think that's the correct term) and not as rigid. I've noticed that using thread alone to attach a clasp tends to tighten the clasp, making it stiff and it isn't as free to move around as much. The wire guard acts like a jump ring to attach the clasp, allowing more 'give' in the clasp itself.
+Deborah Bergen I get my beads everywhere and anywhere, LOL. I buy from several bead distributors as well as Amazon and local bead shop and shows, pretty much anywhere I can find a deal or if I just like the beads...I am a bead hoarder! 😜
I love that nanofil is so much more affordable than the fireline and I think it is definitely fully comparable to it. I get mine on EBay. I found the 150yd spool for just under $9! They have good quality beads for great prices on there too. I personally like the seller runningsprings98(? On the #, could be 89). Also can't go wrong with the dollar bead box monthly subscriptions!
dear Gina, i have a question about herringbone and thread showing ib between stitches, is your crystal nanofil visible in your black 8 O's? let me know pls, love ❤️
I so much love this bracelet/necklace. But with me I am left handed so will need to do things a bit opposite. But I can do it. Thank you so much Gina for these designs. Donna
fabulous bracelet, dear Gina, just flat herringbone stitch, alternating 8/0, 11/0 and pearl, long but easy work, just not understand the color of your 8/0 toho, and why have you choosed it, would u help me with please? thanks in advance❤❤❤
I am in LOVE with this bracelet Gina! This is a perfect project for some beads I've been holding onto for a special project for myself and I love that I can wear it as a bracelet or a necklace😇
One more question... would you choose the Nano for a certain project over another thread? Looks a lot like fishing line. I have some from years ago I wonder, is it similar 🤗
+Deborah Bergen Hi, Nanofil and Fireline are both fishing lines. They sell to some bead distributors that change the packaging, but it is the same product and is much cheaper to buy in sporting outlet stores, in the fishing department. Both are Berkley products. Nanofil is smaller in diameter, though it may measure the same test weight as Fireline. It is stronger, smoother and because of the smaller diameter it allows you to use a higher test weight without filling your beads after multiple passes through them. I prefer t, but will use both products. Oh and my other channel is Gina's Gem Creations.
+Deborah Bergen No, I use it or Fireline interchangeably. I use these two products on everything. I find it works well. I don't change threads with projects. I may use different test weights, however. But I find that all this hoopla of needing different threads for different projects, usually it's just not needed. In my opinion, that is😜😀
