Simple install of a fuel line for a diesel heater/Truma | Relays, Ducatos, Boxers | Van Conversions

How to install a diesel pump and fuel line. In the Ducato, Relay and Boxer it is an easier process as the sender unit is accessible between the cab seats and so the fuel tank does not need to be lowered.
We use the ‪@TrumaUK‬ combi boilers in our van conversions and definitely recommend them!

Going to fit a D4E very soon so thank you so much for taking the time to do this vid! Was contemplating going through the breather pipe as someone alluded to below as struggling to find any negatives in that method but this looks the proper way! Cheers

Hi there, really love the channel and the content is super helpful, I am currently converting a long wheel base Peugeot boxer and I am slightly worried about weight load, I am not planning on having underslung water or gas, do you thing I have anything to worry about?

Great thanks! It is still worth keeping it in mind. Our 6m vans come in around 3000kg which leaves 500kg for people and luggage which is plenty. We use thinner worktops 27mm and lightweight poplar plywood

Great help! Just a couple of questions before I dive in! 1. Does the tube interfere with fuel level reading? 2. Is the fuel tank pressurised on this van? I heard a rumour about this being the case on modern vans... Cheers

Thanks, no as it’s a float level located on the outside of the sender unit. No we haven’t had a pressurised one yet

Is the pump you install in this video in addition to the Truma pump that comes with the Combi?

thanks - does it need to be so close to the sender unit? does it matter where along the fuel line it is installed?

@@eddy802I believe it needs to be a maximum of 2m from the tank and max 6m from the trauma unit.

Can't you just drill through the elbow on the fuel breather pipe? Got to be easier than removing the whole sender unit.

I cheated as wasn't comfortable with taking everything apart...I removed the breather pipe drilled a small hole placed the seal then inserted the stand pipe...its been over a year now working perfectly plus no smell of diesel from them tanks you get that many people moaning about leaking.

I’ve seen a video of a guy just pretty much doing what you did, drill into the top and drop the pipe, obviously cut a bit shorter as to avoid running the tank dry! Seemed as lot simpler than taking everything apart?

Sounds great - I guess people remove to catch the swaf and fit a retaining nut . How does your pipe remain in place please?

Hi.... Will be fitting a heater shortly and have just watched you vid... I have to say you make it all look relatively easy.. However... I have just watched another vid (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HHJaPP2uLFA.html) and in this vid the chap explains why he didn't draw directly from the main tank.. if you go to approx 2:55 of the vid it shows a scrolling instruction leaflet and at the very top of the document on line 5 it states "you have 10 minutes to complete this operaton (fitting fuel feed) and refit the sender unit, tyhis advice direct from vehicle manufacturer..! Would you agree with this statement .. did you complete the operation within 10 mins..? TIA for response ..👍

Hi, I have seen in other videos that the 10 mins is only an issue if you do not disconnect the battery.
