Just an advice: If you buy Istanbul card individualy, it makes a discount like 1TL on transfers. But if you use it for 2 people, it only makes the discount for the first swipe and takes the full amount for the rest. So buying Istanbul card for each person in a large group might be better if you are going to travel a lot

You still love public transportation in Istanbul because you haven't met with Metrobüs yet (Combination of metro and bus, the longest isolated bus line that crosses the whole city)... The most crowded public transportation. Starts from the far European side of Istanbul and ends in far Asian side of Istanbul... Give it a shot! And also there are refund boots next to Istanbulkart biletmatik machines in Marmaray and Metrobus stops. If you don't use the whole line from the beginning to the end, you can refund up to 50% of the payment. And also you need separate Istanbulkarts to have discounts for the next public transport that follows each other. 2.60 TL then 1.85 and 1.45 for the third one! Enjoy!

Hİ I really liked your video but as a born and raises İstanbul girl I have a suggestion for you guys; you are right about tapping more than one person in the public transportation but you usually need card one for each, it has several reasons. 1- When you are using the bus and their drivers usually are not happy with that because you have to tell them to tap again and they do something about it. 2- On the Marmaray and Metrobüs lines they charge you the full line prices but when you get off them there are refund machines that called 'iade makinası' and you can get your refund from there, with that you are only paying the number of stations you went but if you use 1 card for 2 or more it will only give the refund to only one time. I hope this helps you and other people :) All the best

7:46 actually when you change forms of transportation within an hour, say metro to tram or bus to metro, it will charge you *less* than the first time. I don‘t have the exact number, because I‘m not sure if it‘s still the same, but it was about 1₺ cheaper. you have to use the same istanbulcard for it though. ☺️

Great video again guys. I love it how you show our city ❤️ I wanted to add something about Istanbul card also. First fare takes 2.60₺ but when you use it on 2nd and 3rd time frequently, it takes half the fare. So it’s better when you buy separate cards for group of people. Because half fare applies one time when changing the transportation.😊

Hi guys, there is a 4th travel option in Istanbul and that is the Metrobus line that you haven't mentioned. I actually prefer that over the ferryboats and the marmaray to get to the other side. Its a bus that drives on the highroad and passes through most disctricts. Metrobus stations are connected to metro stations. You'll see a Metrobus sign and follow it. I mostly use Uzunçayir on the Asian side to go to Mecidiyeköy on the european side and it reaches it in 20/30 minutes I would say. The metrobus line goes to the furthest west point of the European side, over the Bosphorus bridge all the way to Kadikoy, Sögütlüçesme. sSo its a easy and fast way to travel on long distances. Oh and there is also 5th option to travel between Taksim and Kadikoy by the big yellow cabs that are called Dolmuş (dolmush). You can find them in Kadikoy, at the sea side, west of the ferry ports that you showed in the video. They usually take 5/10 people, you pay a set price and its somewhere between 10 and 20 liras. They drive point to point over the Bosphorus bridge and stop directly at Taksim square. Also another tip, the app Moovit helps you navigate through the city and shows you all the bus and metrobus lines you can take if you want to go somewhere.

You’re doing a great job, I love watching your videos. I’m watching as well your Istanbul series even though I live in Istanbul 😄 2 (and a half) tricks of transportation in Istanbul from me: 1. Marmaray and Metrobus (another way to cross Bosphorus, a bus system that has its own lines on roads, a pretty crowded one better not to use in rush hours 😄, but this way you will have the chance to see the Bosphorus from the bridge) fees change by the distance you travel. When you first tap the Istanbulcard to enter it takes the full travel fee BUT there are return machines in the stations, you need to tap the Istanbulcard when leaving. 2. Transfers cost less. I am not sure about the time frame but I think it’s 90 minutes. It starts to clock first time you tap, and from that time you pay less every time you use another bus/metro etc. It’s not valid for Marmaray and Metrobus. AND if you use the same card for 2, it works only for the first person and than cancels the time clock when you tap second time for the second person. If you plan to transfer many times it’s better for everyone to have their own card.

9:38 Marmaray is the only form of public transportation where you have to swipe your istanbulcard when you get *off* *of* *it* . Because the Marmaray line is very long and goes even beyond the city lines, it will charge you more money than other public transportations. But depending on where you get off, it will give you some of the money back when you swipe it again after you get off. 11:32 but that Marmaray thing works only if everyone in your group has an istanbulcard, since it only gives back once. But if you don’t plan on using Marmaray, it’s perfectly fine to go around with only one istanbulcard.

Hi, for those who plan to stay near Taksim Square there's also the funicular that goes from Karakoy to Istiklal and the old tram that goes up and down Istiklal . The funicular closes early in the evening but it's a good way to go up and down specially if you have a stroller. The old Istiklal tram is always full and has just one car so it's better to just walk. If you have a troller just avoid crowded trams between Karakoy and Sultanahmet we tried once and it was a nightmare, you can walk between those stations, walking across the Galata bridge is always enjoyable, but between Sirkeci and Sultanahmet the sidewalk is very narrow and the trams run very close to the sidewalk.

it will be cheaper if you use your Istanbulcard just yourself. For example when you use the Marmaray they take the whole price (I think 5,20) and at the station where you leave the Marmaray you can take back a part if your money (depends on the station you left). When you're using one card you just can take the money back for one person the second one will always pay the whole price. Same thing with the transfer. When you use a second public transportation it costs less normally but when there are more than one person who uses the card, then the transfer is just cheaper for one of you. I visited Istanbul this summer and there I recognized this.

It a fairytale-type of a castle with a mote that goes back to William the Conquerer and was a favorite hang out for Henry VIII, Queen Catherine, and Anne Boelyn. Check it out if you get a chance. An easy and cheap train trip from Victoria Station. I think you'll love it. Just sayin' :)

Sorry, but there's no such rule. Employers in general provide transportation if they have enough employees, or sometimes they might get together with other companies in the same complex to provide shuttles. Transportation can be rough if you are not in the touristic places as Way Away, so it is a factor to choose a job.

I almost live in Kadıköy since i was a child and as a suggestion you can go and just hang out to Moda2 side of the Kadıköy. The sea-side of the Kadıköy when you enter from the bus station side is called Moda1 and the further side of the same sea-side road is called Moda2 and it much more beautiful. If you want to hang out evenings and just chill on streets you can go there and take your coffee with you. It is full of people every time of the day. (Moda1 side is more annoying cause of the quality of the people hanging out there.)
