Want a simple Life in the Woods? We do, and we love it. It has always been a dream to hunt right from our house, from a little cabin in the woods. We've been living that dream for years now but it doesn't get old. This year we made a lot of new trails, a ridiculously high tree stand, a secret trail camera network and eventually track down some big game!

My favorite Gridlessness video's are the hunting video's. I truly hope this is a successful hunting season for the Birkenshaw family. As in your freezer and your pantry are so full that you are able to shower many meaty gifts upon your extended family and friends. On another note I noticed that Julia suffered what looks like a fairly deep slash to her throat from a branch. It looks like it hurt. It made me wonder if you all carry med kits with you out in the bush. I'm sure you do. In fact I'd love to see what you keep in those med kits in another video. Obviously on this hunt Julia needed a little Hydrogen Peroxide and a dab of Neosporin. But Julia is so tough it probably wouldn't have mattered. Anyway... Tis the season. Happy hunting. Take care. sincerely, Dean O. :-I

Absolutely one of the best hunting videos I've seen. The bugling around the 14:00 mark was amazing and then the bears living their best life in the middle of all that activity and then the moose and then the.... ok ok. My heart rate and breathing increased as did yours each time the elk got close and then you would pan over to your daughter who with the stoic, calm demeanor of her mother was always ready to take care of business. My 13 year old daughter and I are preparing for hunting season here in eastern Nebraska/western Iowa, very much appreciate you and yours sharing these videos.

In every video, you keep showing your face repeatedly while providing information that seems useless. We watch your videos for the beautiful nature captured by your camera, not necessarily because people like your face.

Did you check your neighbour's driveway? 😀 I’ve never hunted with calling something in like that. Looks really wild to be interacting with the animal like that, but I bet the video doesn’t do justice to showing how much time, and patience this requires. Good luck on the next phase. I like your hunting videos, because they’re not Ike all those "professional" hunters. It’s just regular people hunting……in a hunting paradise. Until the animal people make you stop.

I like the hunting videos, I felt like I was right there with you and Julia. It's very exciting to lock eyes with a big game animal and stare each other down. I grew up hunting whitetail deer and small game, mostly around a swamp on the backside of my families property. I'm going back out this year with my crossbow as soon as the weather cools a bit, still in the 80's here which is crazy. Thanks for the video and good luck on your hunts this year.

Also as a small beef an pork farmer that lives alone farms alone. With the heavy wolf an cyote problem. Every day i go out to feed i have to pack my rifle with me along with pails of grain. I lost a number of 3 an 4 month old calves to wolves an cyotes. Sure the MNR PAYS you market value on any wolf kills but not on cyote kills an it up to the inspector how he wants to class the kill. Even tho you seen the wolves after them at 3am an took few out. But how many times i got between a pack of wolves my cows steers calves with a pail of feed in both hands an a rifle slung over my shoulder. Side arm you to be so much easeyer an safer. Some days i just want feeding done as it 40 below here in north western Ont. I dont take my rifle with me to feed as it slows me down.. ended up in a very bad Situation

When your big game hunting with a bunch of people it not to bad packing a rifle in and out of this ruff country north western Ont. Packing a moose out. But when your a type of person that loves to hunt alone because when you were younger the people that took you hunting couldnt go into a spot before sun rise or set an sit there an not move for hours waiting for the moose to walk out. No way they always want to keep crashing around the bush an head back to camp by 10 am. When i shot more mooseat 1 an 2pm then any other time. So in my Adult life I hunt strictly alone. And i cant begine to tell you how hard and dangeras it is packing a heavy rifle with a scoop an not damage it. Making many trips in an out of the bush packing out all the moose meat. When your carring all that fresh meat you know you are going to run into a hungry anamal. So you need protection an due to our bumb laws we can only add to the struggle packing the rifle. When a good side arm would be all one would need well in an out of the bush by your self. Use farmers an trappers use to be able to carry a side arm. But that all changed. With corupt goverment. Making our Survival a much harder and dangeruse job.

Beautifully done video, subscribed. The amount of wildlife on that property is very impressive. Being able to wake to the variety of wildlife sounds every morning must bring joy to your heart. Favorite part was the river otters, used to have a few visiting my property but they moved on for some reason and I highly miss being able to watch their antics. Be alert when up in that sky platform, I had one similar and being up there when the wind changes and suddenly gusts up can get you hugging that tree and hoping for a fast safe way down. Keep an eye on the weather when planning to climb it for a sit. Be safe and above all be free.
