You sir are the best there is. One day brick and mortar universities will become obsolete, as we can receive a higher quality education from truly gifted teachers such as yourself for free from anywhere in the world. But for now i need that stupid piece of paper.

+TheXavier20000 Thanks! I wouldn't be too quick to dismiss universities completely, as there are certain things that can be easier to get in that setting than online (e.g. exposure to groups with different backgrounds and viewpoints than your own, exposure to high-level research). That said, I wholeheartedly agree that it is wonderful that people can get a pretty darn high level education for free online. And it's getting better all the time. I'm very glad that my university has seen the value in this video project of mine, without ever asking for any sort of ownership or branding of the videos.

@sioban(RU-vid won't let me reply to your post.) The output is from R. The plots are done in R as well. (To this point the output in my videos has all been from R.) Cheers.

Great videos, much clearer than my statistics book! Feels bad that I have to calculate all B0^ and B1^ by hand on exam though ;)

How would you check the independence assumption of the linear regression model?
@kishorebatta7395

How do you plot a linear fit without knowing the estimated weights.? In the video, you have plotted the hypothesis without knowing B0 and B1(estimated).
@jbstatistics
@jbstatistics 6 лет назад
I don't know what you mean by "estimated weights". I didn't plot a hypothesis (that doesn't make much sense). The estimates of Beta_0 and Beta_1 are given in the computer output that appears at 1:20 and at other points in the video.

You have plotted the linear fit using the data you have. I wanted to know how did you do this before knowing the values of B0 and B1.
@jbstatistics
@jbstatistics 6 лет назад
Beta_0 and Beta_1 are parameters, and their values are unknown. They were estimated from the data. Their estimates are given in the computer output that is shown at 1:20 and at other points in the video.

I used R.

where does that 10 come from -8.732 x 10
@jbstatistics
@jbstatistics 8 лет назад
+Anthony Depaola It's scientific notation -- the x10^(-5) means move the decimal place 5 places to the left. -8.732 x 10^(-5) = -0.00008732.
