Feel free to ask questions here in the comments. The video for Ranged Combat is already in production, aiming to have it out before the weekend. These are intentionally shorter and more casual. I'm aiming to release these in quick succession just so people have a quick way to grab the info. I will only be showing information from Easy Mode instead of the Core Rulebook unless the information is not present in Easy Mode.

my party consists of w!sp: bow Vicar Timor: Martial Arts (Judo) with a sigma frame Siren: Wide array of melee weapons and base 14 brawling so the vibe is currently: vicar or siren grabs, the other one bonks, wisp shoots, dead mook, repeat

Seems a pretty solid plan too that takes advantage of everyone's strengths. I dig it.

How would you recommend using melee against someone with huge evasion chance?
@DiceTTRPG
@DiceTTRPG Год назад
Remember that if they can't see the attack coming, they can't evade the attack. Find a way to take advantage of environment, and BONK! Smoke, etc, it just happens. Sometimes if you're dealing with someone faster than you, you do have to reconsider your approach. You'll not always be the best in a melee situation. But if someone has a high evasion chance, but high armor too, that's a narrative thing. Some GMs may do that and some don't. I don't have high evasion/bullet dodging work the same if they're running around in Flak. That'll all be a GM taste thing.

@@DiceTTRPG had that come up in an earlier game of red. if your opponent has a super high evasion, consider a different way to attack. when our crew was missing against a miniboss with 16 evasion someone had the bright idea to run in and grapple them. grapple is brawl v brawl, so it gets around their sky high evasion. once they're grappled, they're at -2 to everything so the rest of your crew can get some kicks in.

@@eraser7278 ^ This. Your question was shared by me in my discord just in conversation, and Richard here gave an answer I did not even think about. This is what I love about talking in comments. People'll come up with stuff that's as simple as "Grapple" and it completely slip my mind. Grappling is the best way to slow a bugger down and also force them to use something other than Evasion.

Grapple and throw if you have Brawling.

Personally, I would challenga a Face Down, use the Complementary Skill rule (and any other tricks up my sleeve), and sink all my Luck Points into a single attack to really shift the odds that I land one hit. High evasion characters are fun to play, but they tend to be glass canons. They are also not accustomed to getting hit. Land one hit, and they might be so surprised that they just run away.

Does a special martial art move, count as a martial art attack?
@DiceTTRPG
@DiceTTRPG Год назад
No it does not, it is its own special activation if the requirements are met. Ill be going over those in full once I finish the Ranged Combat video.

In the rules there isnt a oportunity attack rule like in dnd. Do you implement any house rules on the matter?
@DiceTTRPG
@DiceTTRPG Год назад
We don't have a house rule for Attacks of Opportunity. We keep it so action economy is still just 1 Action, 1 Move. We don't wanna blend our own table's game with D&D. We do have a few house rules though.
