Otis Dylan “Alive & kicking” is a perfect example of what I was saying above, we loved this and, travel 120 miles round trip to see them do little pubs in Glasgow. I was a very dark and suicidal teenager when this song was popular. I remember being in a car with my mom and this song played on the radio. She said "I dedicate this song to you." It became Our Song. After she died, I asked her time and time again, to hear Our Song and without fail, it played on the radio, played next on my spotify play list... I hear it when I miss her most, when I need to hear her voice; when i need to not feel as alone... Thanks for covering this song. You did so, just as I asked: Mom, please play our song.... The American, Lovesong, I Travel, Glittering Prize, Up On The Catwalk, Waterfront. A great band. This was the theme song from the 80s film The Breakfast Club. They actually performed in America for Live Aid rather than in England. They’re Scottish. You should also check out OMD (Orchestral Manoevres In The Dark). Another classic 80s band. This wasn't their only Hit Record. They had others like "All The Things She Said" but it was best known from The Breakfast Club where Five Folks spend Saturday Detention together. There was The Punk, The Outcast, The Popular Girl, The Brain & The Athlete. They didn't know each other from Adam but at the end of the Day, they became Friends. They are from Scotland as is The Average White Band (Pick Up The Pieces) and The Eurythmics. This in my opinion one of the Best Songs from a Movie that never was nominated for an Oscar. They might have been a one hit wonder in the US, but they were one of the biggest bands of the 80s here in Europe. I absolutely love them and will hopefully be able to see them again live next year. I had a ticket for the 40 year anniversary tour before the pandemic hit and the tour was rescheduled. Fingers crossed. Oh, you gave a shout out to the drum work on this song. Their drummer at that time was Mel Gaynor who already worked with David Bowie in the mid-70s, a fantastic drummer.
