@bigdunc101 - You had a vision = I have heard them all, and witnessed several versions in person at SM concerts during their first 26 years as a band... I've even heard all of their 2022 and now their just wrapped appearances in 2023 versions here on RU-vid... and this is the best live version of New Gold Dream here on RU-vid! An explanation might be as simple as this... the musical backbone of the "Simple Minds sound" consisting of lead guitarist Charlie Burchill and drummer Mel Gaynor, were in the original Simple Minds. That said... the version of "Love Song" in this concert sounds exactly like the "perfect version" performed on their epic "Live in the City of Light" concert album released in 1987.

Knopfler and Dire Straits were untouchable live..listen to Alchemy live...both great bands different sounds never saw s minds live but saw dire straits 3 times at the height of their creativity unmatched perfection of Knopfler on guitar...one of the greatest of all time. He can play doesn't use a pick and he is left handed playing a right handed guitar..Pet Shop Boys....Depeche Mode other favs check them out...I am 67 and lived and rocked thru the 60's 70's and 80's....best time to be alive for music...today's music ugggggh
