Your videos manage to pack just enough content to be interesting and entertaining without getting monotonous. You should look into a rocket mass heater which drastically reduces wood usage and keeps the temperature pretty stable

Good score on the JD riding lawn mower! That machine is a big step up from the push mower and you can still get parts. You will enjoy it. My advice, any lawn equipment that Sara will drive is a good investment. If she enjoys it, mowing may well be a needed break from motherhood, and give you more time to be directly involved with your child during their early stages of life. At least that is what worked for my wife and I.

Reminds me of the good old days when my parents bought land with nothing but an old shack on it. There is a real house there now but it took years. I'd never do it again but do have fond memories of the process.

That new addition is going to make the house really cool. The baby will have lots of space to learn to walk in that open area. The other property you bought looks nice too. Aside from those pesky little black flies. YIKES! You got yourself a John Deere riding lawn mower. Nothing Beats a Deere!

Betcha Skeetor slept like a puppy (pun intended) after chasing that riding mower around all day. 😄 We’re north east of you in Ontario, and also have a happy dog that enjoys living in the country off-leash. On a busy ATV day it’s all Obie can do to stay awake after dinner. Loves chasing the ATV!

Great spot to for a large opening from the original cabin to the new. Makes it much easier for the wood stove to heat more evenly. There's nothing like wood stove heat and windows that open. Ha Ha! Lookin good kid! Grab a file and sharpen the blades!

AWESOME VIDEO!!!! wish you had time to put out a video EVERYDAY...Also you don't need to listen to any Negative comments about your building.. I've built houses & hung vinyl siding for 25 years & NO BS you build as good as a CERTIFIED CARPENTER... & I'm not just blowing smoke up your Rear... Keep up what you are doing & you will have minimal problems... Also about your Lawn Mower & the Blades you can take a grinder & make the blades on it as Sharp as New ones.. just an opinion.. I have had success doing that

U are a good working carpenter! I am surprised you don’t work for some bones around that area! U understand angels , supports, loads, framing of course, cutting windows ect.,. U do hv to make sure to flash those windows? Overtime ( not a few yrs) stuff shirks and moves and water finds its way in! Therein lies the beauty of flashing ! Glad I found you! I am an older finish carpenter/ contractor! Glad to see your starting a family ! Church? That life gives you the backbone of the family longevity!

I have never seen tape applied like that in the corners. All the others I watched, who didn't, made me wonder why they left that potential gap. Congrats on getting dried in. Such a great accomplishment in such a short time. You sure bust ass when you get your mind set to do something!

Great work. I've been watching this whole build closely as I'm almost ready to build my own lean-to addition to my tiny house...once it's in, it will be more of a 'small house'! You've got a beautiful location and home.

If you want AC, you could always get a mini split heat pump. They are very efficient and can cool the house very quickly plus take humidity out of the house. They sell them with a DIY install which is very easy to install.

The windows are also an escape route if fire blocks the doors. Always have windows that open! I never stay in any hotel etc where the windows don’t open. My friend’s body was found underneath a window that didn’t open in an Alaskan cabin fire.

My folks had a cabin on Crosslake by Nisswa. Nothing put me to sleep as good as having the s open in summer & hearing the loons call across the lake. You are such hard worker & you rarely complain. Looks fantastic-just watch out for ticks.
