I’m so glad I came across this video. I was hesitantly going to buy a bead breaker but this is so much better. I don’t want to have another huge tool in my garage that will take up the limited space. Thank you for the video!! Straight to the point and good tips.

Great video, i find using a piece of wood and stepping on it is much faster but man I’ve never seen a tire come off the rim quit that easy! But i do like the idea of the clamps for getting them turkeys off the rim! Never seen it done as easy as you did it my friend!! 👍👍!! Float on! ✌️

FYI. I thought as a wimpy armed girl I wouldn’t be able to duplicate this video with getting the tire OFF or ON the rim, but the technique worked slick. I did have to use a bicycle spoon to get the ON part to pop over initially, but it all went together very well. Thank you so much for the excellent video. PS, I have done one tire change before this. I found a different video to follow and it was much more difficult than following this one. I was hesitant to do the change and waited a couple of weeks after receiving my tire. I won’t wait next time.

The video is "old"! But helped me more, much more, as I expected. Unfortunatelly, almost 2 and a half hours (!!!) of my life is gone, because on one side, where is no cable, it's didn't wanted to popp. At all. I got so tired in order to get done this last step, I cannot explain you this here, at all! Huge THX for this "give away", anyway!

@@popsncracks9108 It's definitely an improvement over the Vega. I would say carving seems much better. The real improvement is on wet pavement or offroad trail riding. Feels more stable. At about 6:54, Mike talks about pushing into the groove and sliding the bottom out. This works if you’re strong like Mike and not a pansy like me. My one bit of advice for those muscular deficient like myself, is continue to use those grips to tighten the top part and then use your hands to force out the bottom. This was the hardest part of the whole journey.
@shafoplata5737
@shafoplata5737 3 года назад
To further add to the next part, I couldn’t get my tire (Burris Threaded) to fold into itself (Mine came shipped normal full size). My advice would be if you have trouble at this point, hope to the Float Life video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UgWu_pFre-A.html At about 13:43 you can see the way this dude popped the tire on which was the way I was finally able to get my Burris on.

Great vid. But I had a lot of trouble trying to get the second bead of my tire to pop on. It wouldn't move on evenly and I had the psi up to a dangerous number (I was cowering behind a wall whilst trying this). I realised a solution. Firstly it helps to have a squirt water bottle with plenty soapy washing liquid, simple soapy water is a very good lubricant for rubber. My method for that second side of the tire was to coil a round length of electrical cable between the half side of the tire and the rim that met first (with only 10 or so psi it will get pinched in place snugly) then the other (stubborn) half of the tire will slide up and onto the inner rim much more easily (for me, at less 20psi) ...then simply peel out the cable and squirt away with the soapy solution and watch it pop on far sooner, safer and easier! hmm, and also I would finish of tightening the bolts down by hand so that you don't over tighten them and cause excess rail thread wear, especially with those little cabe screw/bolts
@quangyung6751
@quangyung6751 4 года назад
Use Windex, inflate once first bead pops stop at 40 psi. Use heat gun or hair dry and heat the area where its not seated and wait for the pop. Done.

Awesome work Mike. Sadly I saw your video after I had a local tire shop scratch up my rims with superficial wounds. I actually had two of those wonderful Irwin clamps in my shop, but never thought to use them to break the bead. Great idea. When my new Hoosier treaded 11.0X5.5-6 starts to slow leak, I will definitely put your great tips to good use. By the way, the tire shop read the max pressure of 57psi on the sidewall and when I got home, my tire would not fit. I took it down to 12psi and not only does it fit, but it rides great on pavement. Do you have any thoughts on tire pressure from your experience? Thank you for what I think is the best post on changing a OneWheel XR tire anywhere!

Mike struggled from Day 1 with the Dunlop with it rubbing. It requires shaving to make it fit properly. He would do burnouts to make it smaller but never got to running more than 18psi. He finally got tired of it. He put on this Hoosier tire and loves it. (I read all this on his Dunlop KT6 video comments.)

Good clear instruction video. I subbed. Your last video was on the KT6 tire, you said about needing to wear it in so it didn't rub. Is that why you changed tire brand again? Because the KT6 is just too big?
@miketseng
@miketseng 5 лет назад
yes! the KT6 is a huge tire. i was only able to get it to 16psi by doing a LOT of burning out. it will take way too long to burn off enough to run 20psi. you'd have to burn off probably half the knobbies. i got tired of all the rubbing. loving the hoosier though

Old trick for roadside tire change of motorcycle wheel is to wrap an inner ratchet strap webbing material around the tire, then an outer ratchet strap riding over that material to tighten down the centerline of the tire to be seated; It compresses the centerline and gets the tire beads on either side to seat and push towards the rim beads. Not sure if that's even needed for go kart rims. Also you can use any type of rim lube but if you want a suggestion BeadBuster brand has a good jar of goop that works well and is water soluble for easy wipedown and cleanup without getting slippery lube everywhere.
