I love Peter because he's just chilled out and doesn't make people feel dumb for wanting to learn how he does things. He's like like "it's fine, it's fun! Learning is fun!" He's just nice and down the earth. Makes me feel good about learning to draw again. :) No pressure! Just "it's fine!"

I'd also recommend crushing a piece of paper in your hand or folding a cloth, then studying where goes the light and trying to draw it. Whether you're doing doodles or realistic drawings, it really helps understanding how to create volume through shades :)

What do you mean your not good at teaching.... I have taught me lots of new and amazing thing. This video, where u get ur inspiration from, how u start out? Many people take different things from wat u do. I draw every now again. I dont draw more often because im fighting with a blank peace of paper. Thats wen I watch ur videos. U r amazing

It's difficult for me when it comes to shading. Like you said, there are so many diffrent shading techniques out there, it's difficult for me to choose one. In the end, I always feel like I should have chosen another shading style.. but live and learn I guess!

I really need to work on my line and/or hatching shading. I tend to use dots, or stippling. I love the way it looks, but it takes a long time, and I tend to ruin the tip of my pen. I think my homework for this weekend is to do some line shading. Thanks for the inspiration, Peter!

just got these pens at staples $20 for 6 Staedtler Pigment Liner Sketch Pens there really nice and crispy pens don't bleed at all,can last with out its cap for 18 hours and don't Smear on your paper :) they are definitely worth the price!!!

I left one open like for 2 days in my backpack and there is no way coming back. They don't cost much but for me it's very difficult to find since art supply stores almost never have them

there's so many different varibles when it comes to shading and pen techniques, the space between the lines, the pressure of the pen, and the size of the pen as well, you can use just one of these as a principle say for example the pressure of the pen but then if you added the rest of them it'll look totally different! mind boggles me

What I do when shading with pens is just permanent keep my eyes squinted until I only see basically the tone lol, gives me artists crows feet wrinkles but it works well.
