I am a big Freshwater fisherman and follow a lot of freshwater channels, but you are by far my favorite saltwater channel, you do it in a way that I understand! You’ve Earned a Sub!!
Hi Skipper,Randy here. As someone else said, you are the very best fishing video dude online. Really enjoy and look forward to your stuff. I'm not sure if I've seen ALL your videos so bear with me on this idea. What would be of immense help to us all out here is for you to do a seminar on what you have in your tackleboxes. Right....in other words...one video could be pier fishing (I do this on the Outer Banks). What lures you have and how to make them behave underwater. Another vid could be surf fishing (I do this also on the OBX,but also the Jersey shore). What lures you have in your tackle box that have worked for you off the beach. Of course,I have my rods with bait out in the surf in OBX ,but I like to throw lures too. Here's the reason I'm suggesting this..... I can't tell you how many bait/tackle shops sell you stuff that has been working in their area (OBX,Md shore,De shore,Fla) you bring their stuff home (NJ shore) and you get bageled!!! I'd rather get advice from anglers like you who spend far more time on piers, boats, and the sand than I. Keep your vids coming boss.
Simple methods with an emphasis on learning is why I look forward to a new HS video every Thursday. There is a lot of joy to be had with uncomplicated fishing and you do a great job capturing that.
I want to go pier fishing so bad but am a REAL beginner and elder, so need uncomplicated fishing to start off. U r helping me so much, u r a very good teacher. Hv to go check the website to learn the knot. Tks
I'm from Houston, I like to fish any time I can, but I just never catch any 🐟 ever. Been trying for a few years but I just enjoy the peace and fresh air.
Usually most of us do bait fishing here in kuwait. I learn a lot from your video. Please give more videos about jigging, and different kind of jig you use verities of fish which attracts. Your practical presentation helps a lot. Thank you 🙏🏼
Hi I live in Portugal and I love to see your videos, I never tried jigging, mainly because I fish in the sea from the rocks, but I am going to try it now, thank you for all the good stuff you show.
Ive learned so much from this channel brendan! Keep up the good work. Some other channels dont have the patience or just dont want to show these kind of tips or tutorials your the best!! Great camera work by your future wife by the way lol 👌🏼😉😂
When I lived in CA, I used to jig on the surf all the time it was my go to. I used these metal jigs that are on amazon, they're cheap but they work. Caught legal halibut, croakers, rays, and barred surf perch. It's my favorite way to fish cuz it's so active and those things cast a mile even in the wind. On the jetties and small dingies, I catch rockfish, spotted bays, barred bass, and I'm pretty sure you can catch calico on them although I've never hooked one. Jigging is the best
@@efraindelariva7573 on my phone rn so I can't get you a link... They're metal jigs made by Runcl. Look up Runcl jigs or something and you'll find them they're like $15 for 5 for the 20g size. Good luck out there
If you want good snapper go to that same bridge your on Nd cast out toward that piling that’s infront of you with live shrimp I limited out on snapper there so many times
I live in Scotland and jigging lures are very effective method down here ...I catch alot of big Macarel and coal fish ...I find spinng and jigging Silver minnow is the best way to catch them
Where I'm from in South Africa I use what we call a paddle tail lure. It has a round tail that flaps side to side mimicking a swimming bait fish, I target Kabeljou/Mulloway with it on light tackle. They chase mullet so the lure works well and they get really big and put up a good fight. My PB is 20 kilos/45 pounds
@@HeySkipper Honestly there will be people willing to watch the life of a fisherman, traveling, finding places to eat and fish, and just the day to day activities when you arent fishihg.
Great video bro! When C-19 is over it would great if you and Erin could come to Okinawa and fish with us. We jig several different types but do not have the goofy jig here but would like to try it.
Lots of comments on the great fishing! But I think a lot of credit should go to the camera work of Erin! You have a great eye and keep the talking good work keep it up.🥰
I use jigging to do mackerel fishing in England off shore. It's fun but you need to get out the distance with your gear as the fish is further out unless you are lucky and they are in closer. I just ordered an 15ft rod to get out the distance
I wanna have a nice rods like yours, small and tough 💪 to catch all kind of fish, and have some fun, what's your advice!? Can you recommend some good rods pls thank you
I know that area well. I haven’t pulled anything out of there yet, but further down, under the bridge, right before the beach area, many are pulling out snappers-using rubber shrimp.. 🤷🏽♀️
I fish the Skyway and Ft DeSoto piers mostly and I'm not familiar with that pier you were on unless it's the one in Dunedin that I'm thinking of but I don't recall the bridge being that close so probably not. Personally I like fishing with Blue Runner Sabikis which are just larger hooks with 40-60# test line. I caught some big mackerel on them as well as some smaller grouper and sea bass. I had what I think was a kingfish absolutely slam it like a freight train when I was jigging for mackerel and it snapped the 60# line like nothing! Try them out when you get a chance. They work well like the Doc Goofy jigs you were using. I usually tip the sabiki with a whole shrimp but you could use you squidy bits too.
I usually jig with a jelly bass worm that i cut with scissors to my own shape. if you cut the tail end off then split the back inch in half and put a weighted hook through it..... it flutters and gets crappie like mad. i change the shape according to current and weather. i prefer crappie to bass but sometimes you do get a big mouth...i found bags of the huge fake bass worms at a thrift store and just started cutting and practicing. but like you said....some days you don't get a hit unless you have the right color even if the action on the lure is the same.
I love your videos man, but when you're teaching how to jig or use any kind of lure.. can you do one video without promoting and putting your bait on the jigs/lures. So we can see if it actually works?? Not being mean, I'm just curious thats all
I have caught a great many bluegills and shellcrackers on small bits of Fishbite, pink shrimp flavor...that bait is very durable on the hook but you have to careful how you hook it...make sure the hook point penetrates the bait twice with no "tail". I've also heard of Bites catching catfish...
