LOL. Our cat is a ridiculously happy, active, affectionate, playful and healthy 4 yr old carnivore who eats mice and happily crunches on whatever leftover meats we give her....she loves all the "nasties" that humans recoil from and usually throw away....she chomps through chicken bones and fish heads, eyeballs and pork fat. She's gorgeous and super healthy. Any real meat you give your cat is light years better than the processed crap they call cat food. It's like do you give your child an apple and worry that it hasn't got the proper ratio of nutrients, or do you give her AppleJacks because the box says it has 9 essential nutrients?
Once I went to school and this girl in my class was crying and I overheard a conversation she had with my teacher and what I got from the conversation is that the girl had a cat but she never took actual care of it
Your a lil remedial aren't you? 😂 Some of the lords rules are ..be kind to animals children and the elderly.. hope no one thinks like you when your an old fart😂😂😂
@@loomandstarhow does that work? I mean.. my wife wanted a cat.. so she does the litter and feeds her.. then expects cuddles. The cat always meowed at me so I figured she wanted to play. So now the cat cuddles me and my wife is like whyyy!?!? (Terrible grammar)
Can someone educate me on how you can't feed the same raw diet forever but you aren't told to not feed the same commercial diet forever? Also, I hear people claim they don't share recipes because "every cat should have a different recipe" yet cats can share the same commercial food for their lives? I'd like to be properly educated, because my autistic ass can't do all the calculations and stuff myself, especially with how busy I am. I need a few one and done recipes to use for my average cat to cycle through and be done with it. :')
I don't know but my cats have been eating the same recipes for years and never got sick. Its just now that I do a bit of changing in the past I did give them something else from time to time but their diet was mainly chicken thigh with bones chicken liver and chicken heart and then some extra turkey through it or chicken breast
Basically commercial cat food companies don't actually care about our cats they just want our money. I mean if you look at the ingredients at the back of a cat food packet it's like only 15% meat if that. That's why many of us make our own cat food.
Commerical cat foods are nutritionally balanced to meet a general cats needs, its the same formula every single time. If you fed the same raw food they wouldnt have a balance of nutrients unless you do the math and talk to a vet to make it balanced. So you could feed the same raw everytime if you do it very precise. Also commerical DRY foods are kinda shit too and most cats do pay the price long term with kidney problems. The worst wet food is better than the best dry food
I totally feel you. We feed chicken, steak, liver, fish and egg yolks. I am a Carnivore. My 2 kitties literally eat whatever I eat. We don’t see a problem.
After all the issues with kibble and my cats being super picky with can food I’m going to try transitioning them to raw so this is so helpful!!!! I’m very visual 🙏🏻
I'm gonna go way out on a limb and guess that you can get some good quality cat food, add some raw elements, vary what you feed the little critter, and see your pointy eared friend thrive
Thank you!! I've been dying to get my cats back on raw but the price point has just been not it for me. But even on the expensive kibble/wet food combo their poops are just so unbearable. I miss my smell free apartment 🤣 Hoping to swap them to half pre made and half balanced homemade meals. I have your calculator sheet thing but I've still been struggling to feel confident balancing (after years of unknowingly feeding them unbalanced ugh). Hopefully this gets me back on track!
Have you tried home prepared raw? I found it to be way cheaper than any quality kibble or canned food 😅 Premade raws can be outrageous in price but when I home prepared, it ended up being cheaper per day than good quality kibble or canned! Of course depends on location for food pricing... I'm up in Canada in BC.
I simply give my remaining food to cat. If I’m eating sushi, I give her raw salmon. I sometimes eat liver, and give her liver. Done. She eats raw, I eat it cooked and seasoned with salt and spices.
So the plate in the video is one day's worth of food of about 288kcal, correct? You would then portion that into 3 seperate feedings throughout the day? Seems far more...
i have 23 cats and i only feed them chicken meat and sometimes fish i got some for free from a friend otherwise i a have to be a millionaire to feed them this every day twice xD i also have 1 dog ...i wish i can feed them the healthiest food but this will cost me a lot sadly everything is expensive here especially during the war
@@Hannelore7 i honestly feed them whatever i got it is sooo expensive to go out the way to buy meat from the store because i have a lot of cats and a dog..but some local stores here can give u free chickens meat after they cut it some parts they dont need they give it to people its not just bones and crap its actually full of meat if not i have to buy some regular store cans or small fish if i had the chance ..basically whatever in hand just not to make them hungry i feed them anything available i cannot afford to buy meat every day! even for my self xDD. they love the chicken and fish the most cats love raw food whatever u got feed them thats their nature anyway they eat rats lizards birds
I saw a recipe where they used chicken, chicken heart, and chicken liver, and supplemented the rest of the nutrients. The youtube channel name is Lucky Ferals
is for everyday meal? or one or twice a week meal between other meals. also would it be recommended to blend all these together just wondering as I have two cats and one is an older cat 19 rescue and hardly has any teeth left but I want to give him the best diet possible but will start slowly obviously any suggestions would be appreciated thank you ❤❤❤
Folic acid doesn't exist in nature. It's entirely man-made and is only found in processed foods, like enriched flour. Folate is what exists in nature and what our body needs. More than 40% of people can not convert or metabolize folic acid at all. The use of folic acid in prenatal vitamins is very closely correlated with postpartum depression.
Much better than kibble or even canned wet food, however I have been hearing that fish isn't that great for cats as it is not a natural prey, I wonder the same about red meat, big animals are not their natural food.
Hello I was excited to see this video uploaded! But I am wondering where is the source of taurine in this diet? Im just starting to learn the raw cat diet needs and I dont recall it being mentioned! Thank you :D
I appreciate you sharing this recipe, but Simple?? Not even! Sine of these are difficult to find and with the small amounts used, how do you buy and store the rest of what one would need to purchase in order to get all these ingredients? Otherwise, it's cost-prohibitive. The idea of feeding cats a healthy diet is very daunting.
Hey! I love this recipe, however my cat is about 15-16years old so can I blend this recipe up with the necks? Or will the small pieces of bone cause issues?
NOT a good idea! Your housecat will thrive on manufactured cat food. A mistake to try and provide a proper, and safe, diet to a pet. Raw liver? Check with your Vet.
That’s what I’m thinking!! Totally seems like a timesaver. I’m thinking the bone I’ll let my car have so he gets that satisfaction of biting bones still and maybe the drops of vitamin e and seaweed still go on top of the food but I think I’ll blend the rest too!
I honestly need you to walk me by the hand and show me how to interact with your notes. I am seeing it but don’t know how to interact with the information or how to interpret the mathematic equation or answer to the math. Say you are a Newbe who got hold of your notes with a cat that’s 12.8 lbs… what now?
I'm actually working on something new that does just that! I'm really hoping to get it finished in the next few months, so stay tuned! If you need help now though, there's always the Paws of Prey Club! You can ask any question you need, and myself and many other raw feeder will be there to help. You can check that out here: pawsofprey.com/pawsofpreyclub
Where is the taurine in this? I know livers or kidneys can sometime has it, but the recipe should def have taurine. Cats 100% needs it, cannot keep it, and cannot metabolize it, so having taurine in their diet is essential.
would have been helpfull if the res for making a weeks worth of meals in sted of a single feeding, no one is going to take the time to make this 2 ro 3 times a day,
How long can keep that large kidney and longs in the freezer? And what if I cook them a little? My cat is pancreatits, cooked meals are easier to digest, right?
I've been feeding my cat a raw diet for the last 3 years and shee's doing fantastic, but I'va always cut out the fat from the chicken hearts. Shuld I just leave it? Shee weights around 5.5 and 5.7kg, I actually started feeding her raw so she can loose some weight...
I mean, to be fair, it is just for the nutrients. I agree that it is complicated, but cats also don’t eat processed chunks of meat and fillers from a factory that still sometimes contain fish or beef 🤷♂️
I bought a crate for my cat and dont put any blankets in it and just use it for feeding her to avoid that! It works great and is easy to clean. It took her about a week to fully adjust to eating in it
I am new to all this. Thank you for all your videos! So I have a 6 months old kitten an would have to wait ont-il she is 1 year old? Also, should I cut in smaller pieces?
This is an adult recipe, so it would need to be altered a bit to fit a kitten's needs. But kittens can start eating raw right away! If you made homemade meals, yes you will need to cut it up relatively small for kittens
if there is 1 person on this planet i would trust to take care of my cats when i go on vacation its you but im afraid they wouldnt come back with me after enjoying your recipes SO its a NO !!!!!
Great video! My f/babi gets cystitis every few years and im getting sick of vet recommendations. Had to laugh though because moral of the video: FEED YOUR CAT LIKE THE KING HE IS (..like he doesn’t already have me wrapped around his paw 😒). 60% of the meats are one I already cook with so that's positive & will transition him slowly. Next, I'm going to sacrifice a buffalo for him, the great king mufasa😩😂 and get a leash so he can parade me around his kingdom as we might as well make it official.
What do you suggest if you have a kitty that just WILL NOT chomp into bone? She chews meat chunks and I've had her chew a bit on silvervine. But no mater what cut or how I try to give it to her she'll ignore bone parts, might chomp once and then drops it and doesn't eat it or chew enough to get any benefits. I've had to grind the bones or mix powders into ground meats to get her proper calcium. But I want to be doing more for her dental health too. She'll chomp on me fine and even tough meat just wont to bone even lets me look at her teeth until shes annoyed. So I dont think its any eating discomfort, when i still did kibble she'd chomp the bigger treats
It would be easier if there were any natural reared and raw fed cat breeders. If you know any in the states, please advise. I'm interested in Ragdoll cats.
What is the organ that gives the adequate amount of vitamin E, If one didn't want to use the supplement? Is it brain, I think? I just wanna make sure I'm remembering right, cause I actually have a store near me that happens to sell pork brain! Also, for the fish, could mackerel or anchovies be used instead of sardines? Or are sardines specifically the best option?
My kitty is raw food since his birth + homemade formula and yogurt but I believe that not all breeds can eat this kind of meats and especially, if you add fish too.
I have two medium hair cats that have part maine coon in them. They have always eaten kibble or can food but I really want to transition to raw. Do I not put all the meats together?
@@PawsofPreyAny thoughts about how to do proceed if your cat has absolutely no interest in anything but the muscle meat? Do you blitz this stuff up? Serve it just like this? Our cat won't go near anything but the meat and even then, needs to be confident about it tasting good.
I've done the math. Your recipe adds up to 6oz which means it's for a 15-POUND CAT if you're feeding 2.5% body weight. If you're feeding 1.5% body weight then it's for a 25-POUND CAT. REALLY????
The weight of food is only half of it when figuring out how much to feed your cat. What really matters when formulating homemade diets is the calories, and the ingredients you use can vary in calories. This recipe is for a 10 lb cat, and at 3% body weight, the meat, bone, and organ total should be about 4.8 oz. This recipe is about 5.4 oz of meat, bone, and organ. This 0.6 oz difference betwteen 5.4 and and 4.8 can be pretty negligible, but of course it depends on the individual cat's metabolism, and again, the calories in the food you're feeding. The meal additions (fish, shellfish, etc) do not count into this weight suggestion (4.8 oz) so with these added, it will naturally always be a higher weight of food than the body weight percentage suggestion. Reflecting on this recipe, the ground beef could be reduced to 1.1 oz because the calories were ~30 over the suggested intake for a 10 lb cat. At that point, the total weight is 5.6 oz.
What about veggies? Does this meet AFFCO recommendations? Or close enough in a week's meal plan? My cat is outdoor/indoor and in obsessed with eating grass (wild cats also eat grasses and other plants).
Thank you ! It is so hard to find recipes. Do you have any suggestions for senior kitties with kidney disease? I'm having such a hard time finding recipes and figuring out what he needs. Vets won't sign the prescription for the raw food diet I wa t to give him and I really don't like the prescription diets available. I'd appreciate any help anyone can offer.
I'm in this uphill battle too. They are blaming phosphates, raw meat is full of it. I'm confused...I've fed her fancy feast since I noticed her losing fangs. She was adopted at 3 yrs old. Now she's14 and has kidney failure and stomtitus. Wtf!
you have to look for the ones that don't have any added ingredients, they do exist and for heavens sake stay away from natural flavorings, they are highly addictive
🔴 SMALL BATCH Brand Frozen RAW RABBIT highly recommend. Suggest you call EVERY INDEPENDENT Pet store ask for manager if they price match and buy it from them. This saves LOTS of money like 40-50%
I'm surprised by the mussles. It strikes me that they could be more dangerous to feed due to the nature of the way they feed, as bivalves. The rest I found very informative 🙂
For this recipe, is this one meal, or one day's worth? If it's one meal, how many meals per day? I feed my cat three times a day, smaller meals, because she's diabetic.
I have a different understanding of what "simple" means...also, how would a cat eat parts of a cow in nature? aren't cats just eating birds, mice and small reptiles? shouldn't we emulate that?
Thankyou for this. It seems like a lot of food for 1 meal. My cat wouldn't eat all that. How to transition, and what to do for smaller appetites please?
I have a kitten, I want to try to this for him because honestly I’m new to owning a cat and I should’ve educated myself more before i got it. Can they eat all of this everyday and never get tired or sick? I’m really new to this
Saw a no of vets adding small quantity of rice, pumpkin or carrot...recently i stopped that... My little one is 7 months old...i dont give chicken necks because i think its still small...shall i give it now...
