Mr. Detective, I've added your channel to the Featured channels section on my main channel page. You have some great live streams and videos! We need to get you some exposure!
Finally! I find someone who knows what he's doing! It's amazing how many wrong ways people have thought of to do this. It's a shame this is such a common problem. Why couldn't they have used a little bit thicker steel right there?
Good video to overcome this problem, I had a Wheelhorse 30 years ago and never had this problem, but have just got a Stiga and encountered it...as said you get what you pay for.........Thanks.
Super video, I had both front wheels pointing in different directions. An hours work after watching your video and everything back to normal. Thanks for your help.
@Daves Small Engine Revival, thanks for stopping by, my friend. It never ceases to amaze me at corners manufacturers will cut to save a buck. Thanks for watching sir. 🦅🇺🇸
Had exact problem on my DYS 4500 I rigged it up somehow with a metal plate it held up for 1 year until I sold it off. Wish I had seen this video back then may have held on to that old girl💪🏽
Great instructional video. Worked perfect on my Craftsman Pro mower. These may well be the weakest parts on these mowers. Yep, cast iron axle and stamped connecting arms. The near-zero turning plus ground speed causes this to fail. Thanks for the post.
Thank you so much for this. I was able to straighten both of them out for now. I suspect they will need replacement down the road but this will get me by for now. Thanks again.

@@rayburnett3066 that’s a nice milestone to hit. I hope to make it myself. My father just turned 80 in January and he still works with me to keep this projects going smoothly.

It’s a manual warehouse pallet stacker. It belonged to a tool rental company I use to do work for. I commented about it making a good mower work/lift and they said it had been there for two years and had never rented out once. For roughly $200 that they owed me at that time I loaded it up and have been using it every day since.

Heat can make it softer and easier to bend again after it cools. The main thing I was worried about was cracking it, but it's best not to use heat on something like this. Thanks for watching Andrew. 🦅🇺🇸
Seems all the repair videos show this same type with very obvious ways to repair. Mine has a different spindle setup, nothing easily bent, nothing easily adjustable.
Hey Baldeagle242, New sub here. What a great video bro! I've been looking at other ones to get an idea about how to fix my Husqvarna 48", yours is the best thank you! 🇺🇦☮✌🏻
Well… I have the one toe out, just bought a set of axle/brackets from Amazon as stated…installed and guess what… still a toe out. I have the same exact style as the mower here. Looks like I will bend the new one anyway. The linkage rods look okay and not not bent. A real head scratcher
Very good i think i will weld some braces on after I straightened as you did and then add some new threaded ball joints to the steering arms ( weld them ) so i can get that alignment dead on .
That works very well. I have done that on other mowers but always get negative comments on these simple fix videos when I break out the welder from those who don’t have one. 😉
Excellent, informative video on how to straighten! My problem is after taking off and changing a flat tire their doesn’t seem to be room to place the washers back on what’s going on! I put the retainer clip back on just to move the mower out of the way and it wouldn’t stay on. Lost it. Just bought a couple new ones. How can I get the space to put the washers back on? The retaining ring seems like a horribly flimsy way to keep the tire on
Bought 2 brand new OEM spindles for my john deere L110. The verdict : the right front wheel is straight and the left front wheel is toed in about 4 degrees. So now what happened? did they come from john Deere already bent? I don't disagree with your theory of why these have toe alignment issues but with my new parts it didn't fix it either so not sure this is the true root cause. The fact there is no adjust-ability from the factory is concerning. Solid rods for steering linkage with no threaded adjusters?.
I agree 100%! However, after watching some of the other videos on RU-vid, I wanted to put something out that wasn't a total hack job. With that said, I do agree 100% that they will be weaker and more prone to bend again. I also thought about welding some support braces to them, but I figured you're typical homeowner probably doesn't have that option. Anyways, thanks for watching. 🦅🇺🇸😁👍
So,I have the T2500 which has the newer style sterring with all the ball joints and linkages' My tires were so bad I decided to replaced all sterring linage with adjustable ends, the triangle piece and the small tie rod looking pieces. Yet the steering is still not correct. Do you have a fix for that system?
It’s a manual warehouse pallet stacker. They are pretty expensive to purchase new but I do see them at auctions and on Marketplace from time to time. I got lucky and picked this one up for a couple hundred bucks and it’s the best money I ever spent. Here’s a link to one on Amazon. amzn.to/3R4H6bU I need to make a full video on it, there have been a lot of people asking for more information on it.
Plastic bushings? They are actually an alloy and not plastic, replacement ones are not as long as the factory ones, I would say they are about half the martial in length so the the surface contact is over less material and they wear very quickly. So after going through a set of replacement bushings in two months I bought the bearing kit mentioned and they lasted two years with no issues yet. Just take a pick and remove the side dust shield of the bearing on the inside edge and work extra grease into the bearing. They come lightly greased so giving them more grease will help prolong their life. Leave the shield off and that way when you grease the hub it can flow freely into the bearing. I run a 21 HP Craftsman, 26 HP Craftsman pro and 26 HP Husqvarna that all use this same setup and all run the same Bushing/Bearing setup and are interchangeable. I cut about 6 acres sometimes twice a week and have about 900 hours on the Husky and well over 1200 on the 21 HP Craftsman. Sorry I didn't remember to say good video and the best one I saw explaining how to position the spindles when straightening them out. I hope people take your suggestion for the bearings serious after they discover their original bushings are world. Cheers from Canada
Mine was the main axle.. i replaced everything before the axle and didnt fix the problem. The moment i saw wear against the sub frame on the axle it was definately a bent axle..
maybe i should do this for our d130 cause the right tire that we replaced after it went bald is now balding the new one again and i check and its a little bit sideways on the right side
Question.... I accidently ran into a pole that was on the ground and covered with grass. It WAS against my barn but had moved out some. Anyway, the alignment is off now. I can still turn left and right but it's like trying to maneuver a car with no power steering - it's hard. I don't have a mower lift in my garage but I do have a jack. Is that possible to use to hoist one side up and then the other you think?
@@baldeagle242 They go on top of the spindle before you slide up into the axle housing. There are a few videos on RU-vid on how to do it. Search poor man’s riding mower power steering. 🙂 Also you can buy them in bulk if you do a lot of rider flips. An upsell 😎
Nice repair on that front end. Bummer they make those steering spindles so weak on there, but it must have taken some abuse to get them out so far. What kind of lift setup is that? Great upload.
It's a manual pallet stacker that I've modified. I plan to do a video on it at some point; I get quite a few questions about it. The spindles on these things bend so easily if you hit something. I've welded extra bracing on them in the past; I was trying to keep this video short and more directed at the typical homeowner that probably doesn't have a welder. Thanks for watching.
@@freedommowers420 I tell people pretty often that I would instead buy a 20-30-year-old GT or X Series John Deere(Insert your preferred dealer here) for $1000 before spending $1000 plus on a new residential mower. With a bit of maintenance, that already 20-30-year-old mower will still be running when that new mower bites the dust.
@@baldeagle242 I have 3 older mowers and contemplating changing out a rear end to keep an old MTD going. Motor and deck are OK but it will no longer hardly move forward.
I’ve had to align brand new ones myself. I assumed they were somehow bent in shipping. You can straighten the new set just like I did the originals in this video.
Hey does this also work on troybilt riders I've looked all over utube they basically same set up 2 linkage rods coming off steering gear to front of. Mower steering arms you just straightened on the craftsman
It has adjustable ends but it doesn't help they look kinda bent I'm going to give your method a try it doesn't work at least I've tryed THANK you for responding. Back & great video appreciate it.
Nice repair, it is a shame they don't make them stronger at manufacture, but i guess that may stop them selling future spare parts and replacements. 🙂🚜🐻 Bear, Queensland Oztralia
Ok, there is a big Air Show in Dayton Ohio also which is only about 45 minutes north of me. I was going to offer you a free lunch but Wisconsin is about 500 miles from me.
Great job the old saying used to be get a bigger hammer but on this job if you cannot bend the metal get a bigger pipe. Just kidding. It's hard to believe they would use that thin of metal on those mowers. Because if they hit something hard enough to bend both of those parts they will probably do it again and by that time the metal will break just a thought.
Greasing the steering parts during reassembly is crucial for maintaining the longevity and efficiency of the equipment. It’s unfortunate that certain steps, like this one, aren’t always captured in the filming process for various reasons. Nonetheless, always remember to include this vital step to ensure smooth operation and minimize wear and tear. If you have any other questions about the process, feel free to ask! @@baldeagle242 lol. The addition of an "R" sound in words like "Washington" or "washer," often pronounced as "Warshington" or "warsh," is a feature of certain American dialects, particularly in parts of the Midwest and rural areas, like southern Ohio, Missouri, and Indiana. This phenomenon is called intrusive R.
It's a manual warehouse pallet stacker. I purchased it from a tool rental place I used to do work for. They had it on the floor as a rental and said it had been there for two years and they had never rented it once.
@@baldeagle242 Thanks. On another note. I have a G5600 sears mower Model 204080. Can not see way to fix toe out problem. Searched everywhere for repair and can't see where bent, steering different on this model. Any help, please. I can't be the only one with this tractor. Thanks. Bob
