Do you like to build an easy and often vintage model kit out of the box or do you think its a waste of time? Let me know in the comment section! And do not forget to subscribe to the Rustyscale Show for more scalemodeling mojo
@chrisveya7556 its nostalgic! Think we have to keep this going,at the the same time keeping the history alive,so we don't forget our past, and keep our our memory alive.
I just finished the old Revell PZL P11 and it was quite satisfying. It might have been the easiest model I have ever built. Parts fit was excellent and I used just a tiny amount of filler. Most of the Revell kits in the H 600 range are worth my time, but a few are real dogs, like the P-51.
My feedback, Research, Research, Research. Always research the modyou are building. By knowing the Who, What, When, Where, Why, and in some cases, How Long. You will be better able to create a historically accurate model.
Hi from Scotland . I’ve just “discovered” your channel - excellent work! Plus, may I say, I’ve just watched your weathering video and hallelujah some common sense. I’ve think you hit the nail on the head. As you said unless you are doing some specific diorama then less is more. But your comment on used v’s excessive dirt is so true. For example planes in the pacific may have looked less than factory fresh but you can bet they were well maintained to continue the battle. Keep up the good work
Excellent work, it's not every day one sees an Eindecker and in a small scale. Good tip on that mottled metal effect, I must remember that. Happy modeling! 🛠
I enjoy an easy out of the box build from time to time. It helps to remind me why I got into the hobby in the first place. A simple relaxing build from start to finish is just what is needed on occasion, to get the mojo back and motivate me for a new project. You did a great job on your Eindecker, Chris! I really love the metal finish on the engine cowling and side panels.
Don't be too bothered by the colour,it was fabic with clear dope( resin mix). Depending on the aircraft manufacturer the colour varied according to the fabric used and the dope was brush applied. Alot of them also had clear wood varnish painted and polished for better streamlining( a bit pointless in my opinion). Simple kits give you a break from the "dramas" of more detailed kits and allow you to have fun which is what is most important.
I built the Airfix Eindecker a few years ago and I have to say the Eindecker really is one of those kits that I would say you really have to rig, It looks so good once you get the wing rigging done. Plus with only one wing I feel its a little more forgiving then a biplane.
During the 60s I built all the Revell 1/72 WW1 airplane models. I’m way past remembering the details except my favorite was the DeHavilland DH-2. They were the only Revell kits of the era that I thought were very good.
Sometimes older vintage kits are nice to build. Just build it depending if you have alot or little clean up. I got done with a pt boat from atlantis models. It will drive you up the wall trying to clean up and making it accurate. It is very inaccurate, so it is one of these kits just to have fun with. Sometimes it is just a great fun stress reliefer....😊
Just found your channel, and it was refreshing to see someone else do a small, inexpensive kit just out of the box. Can I ask where you got your stand that you held the plane with? I really like the setup over some of the mdf versions available online. Keep up the great work!
I tend to pick the easy models like Tamiya kits from the 90s when I am looking for a bit of a break from more involved models, mainly because I tend to want to take these older models (like your Fokker here) and make them a whole lot better. This invariably leads to a lot of work, making a quick build unlikely. Hence, the return to Tamiya kits. My favorite old kits are the Airfix kits, because they had such a variety of releases back then. But in general, yes, switching to an easy build is a must when modeling to avoid burnout.
Yes, my previous three builds where rather demanding and equipped with all sorts of accessories and extras and i felt a bit tired afterwards. So this one right here did a great job in regaining the energy to head on to a bigger project again. Thanks👍
Definitely NOT a waste of time to do small and/or old kits like this. I use them to build and improve my various modeling skills. And the old ones give you a great appreciation for the improved quality of newer kits.
Also, thanks for your comments about how long it took you to build the model. I also consider myself to be a slow builder and I find it interesting to see how my modeling time compares to others.
With this build i realised, i should build 2 or 3 simple kits per year to keep the balance between detailing my builds and the finished model count at the end of the year.
When I want to do a simple build I often go for a Bandai SciFi kit. No glue, no paint, just click together and add the stickers, and done. Always works for me.
