This simple clamp can be made with just a few tools. A friend of mine once told me that you don't need to have fancy tools to be a woodworker, it just makes it easier. I took that as a thought when I made this. It's simple and very effective.
This clamp was made for my Miter Jig for the table saw. You can watch that video here: • New way to use your ta...

Ahha.. i was just working on something similiar yesterday.. just fitted t tracks on my flip workbench and working on stop blocks and holddown clamps like these 👍😁

Hey, you should make one of these. I was surprised by how easy it was to cobble this together. I used a hack saw because I get complaints from people that you have to have all these expensive tools...but man would I have loved a grinder. Thanks Suj ;)

Oh how I hate toggle clamps, but you fixed the problem that I hate most about toggle clamps. Seems so obvious now, doh! 👍👍👍

Really, I know! What an obviously flawed design. If they just shrunk the interior of the metal loop and ran a threader through, it would be easy to use those buggers. Thanks for watching Kuffy, I'm honored!

Hi Rob, What a great adaptation of the toggle clamp so it can be used on a T Track. I know there are commercial versions out there but they are quite expensive. Great project Rob. Take care. Cheers, Huw

Thanks Huw, I appreciate it! And yes, they can get very expensive. I suggest making your own ;)

Great idea! Just the thing I have been needed for my sliding table saw! 👍

It really works great...and I didn't even epoxy in the nail. I was going to use a bolt like I did in another video, but it literally makes the block below the toggle clamp twice as thick...this was a lucky "Wait a second!" moment I got.

I KNOW! I hate those toggle clamps otherwise...it just seems like a serious flaw to not have a threading inside the end of the clamp instead of those 2 dumb nuts 😂 Thanks for watching Daniel!

Rob - very interesting version of a hold down clamp. That’s a handy one. Hope all is well.

JP, appreciate you man. I love modding things, it's a lot of fun! BTW, I have a bird I filmed outside my window I want you to look at sometime...I have no idea what it was but it was colorful and weird! Do you have an email or instagram account I can reach you by?

I certainly like to see things modified. Incidentally, wasn't Clevis Pinn the original drummer for Buddy Holly and the Crickets? Cheers Rob.

Ever heard of a Dremel?

@@makethingswithrob hahaha good one. On a less judgey tone, an angle grinder would also work but I'm fairly confident that you knew that and didn't expect it to take as long as it did using the saw and when it started to take longer, it became more about "I'm determined to do it this way". Also, if you used those tools then people will complain like _"yeah, if you have a dremel/angle grinder...this video is dumb"_ ... everyone wants to criticize but doesn't actually create anything themselves...
@russmartin4189
@russmartin4189 2 года назад
Dude, get an angle grinder. You would have cut and ground that metal in no time. An angle grinder makes hack saws and files almost obsolete.
@makethingswithrob
@makethingswithrob 2 года назад
Definitely. I have 3 grinders. A couple years ago I got a hothead that told me that he liked what I was doing but couldn't afford the tools to do it. Now I try to simplify it a little bit so I can say, "What, you can't spend $10 on a hacksaw?!"
