i remember trying b&w for the first time and the realization hit hard because you depend on color so much to make your pics look nicer lol. it really is a really great way to sharpen your composition skill and practice picking out your subjects more consciously.
Way back in my high school days, 1980s , we only shot black and white as it teaches you more about photography than colour does. if I can i leave the aperture at f5.6 to create more vanishing points and i tend to stalk alleys and tunnels for more contrast.
Why not just get a film camera and shoot film? Forget digital as it sucks go with black and white film you will have a better experience. Forget presets just use film and shoot it.
The price of film, the annoying part of travelling abroad with film due to security scanners. If I want to take the amount of pictures I usually do on a trip I would be taking a carry on bag just for film
