It’s because of the infrastructure of the hand. There is a ligament that connects both the middle and ring thus making it harder to move.

@abb5643
@abb5643 Месяц назад
I think what the uploader forgot to mention is that for this to work properly, you should be holding the notes down with the weight of your arm, not by pushing with the fingers. You can only lift the 4th finger independently by having a relaxed 3rd and 5th finger. In general, whenever you hit the bottom of the keys, you must be able to relax your fingers at the bottom and keep the keys held with gravity and arm weight rather than finger squeezing. Hope that helps!

Thank you that’s a good tip. I would also recommend going up and down those five notes to practice doing steps. I think at almost any level of proficiency this can still be quite testing, if you escalate to playing randomly chosen note sequences, sometimes repeating a particular note, with *any* upwards movement by any of the other fingers, or uneven tone, tempo or volume, considered a fail. Using the left hand! To get to that level, assuming you have nailed it in the right hand, then try with both hands simultaneously, mirroring about either D or Ab - for most people this is actually a very useful stepping stone to doing difficult passages with the left hand.
@thebig12conference73
@thebig12conference73 2 месяца назад
@@Gottenhimfella And that is the problem with Yanni compositions you have to be precise and consistent. If you have one slip up that is game over if you are just one half a note off or one finger placement off. As you know Yanni likes to use a lot of complex left handed inverted chords and Ont he right hand he likes to play a lot of double note octaves. These are advanced theories. I got to get good on the digital side. Tell me I got a Clavinova Yamaha 745. I got to download the Yamaha app to fully unlock its true potential. I am saving up for a Japanese U1 Yamaha btw. I am a Yamaha addict if there was a Yamaha anonymous 😂 Good points and I can tell you were classically trained like me. I am guessing perhaps Europe? I was in Vienna. Lisztzy also used to do five finger attacks and then move the whole hand at incredible speed at the keyboard and make it sound like an even progression as opposed to three finger thumb under runs. Can't compare a lot of people to him especially beginning students who this video is good for.
@Gottenhimfella
@Gottenhimfella 2 месяца назад
@@geu6270 I think the exercise in this video (with some additional criteria) is very suitable for intermediate and even advanced students. I tried escalating it to playing randomly chosen note sequences, sometimes repeating a particular note. I chose to regard as a fail *any* upwards movement by any of the other fingers, or uneven tone, tempo or volume. Using the left hand. For me, that was almost as difficult as the very intersting Liszt exercise from Taisin (with which I was not familiar). I can do it with my right hand, but at present it eludes my left (mirroring the keys, in other words holding down F and Bb with 4 and 2, and playing an Emin triad intermittently with 5, 3 and 1. By tomorrow, that will be remedied!

Crazy as it sounds, just tap on surfaces all day long. It’s nice having a piano to hear the “tune” but imagine you’re listening to drums, make your thumb the snare, ring the kick, or whatever. To start only use two parts of the “kit” so just practice doing a basic beat with your middle and ring finger.

My teacher asked me to do that, both hands together, 3 reps of 4. He also told me to do finger 1-2-1-2-3-2-3-2-3-4-3-4... and descending. And the last one which is not easy, two finger at the same time and altering between 3-5 and 2-4 and mixing hand with 3-5 on one hand and 2-4 on the other... that one explode your brain. And finaly rythm 2 against 3 and 3 against 4 on two hands with that last fingering.

Wait good idea but also don’t “lift” your fingers off the keys like that - as far as future habits go, the key to playing fast is a lot of efficiency of movement - your fingers do not need to leave the key for the sound to stop and it’s less wasted energy
