Super helpful video! If anybody is having issues shutting off service mode, you have to follow the steps and hold the gas pedal and parking brake up for a few seconds after turning the battery back on. After that you will hear the brakes move and the lights on the dash shut off

I have a Ford Explorer 2023 XLT, every time I shift from Drive to Reverse or any gear, the parking brake automatically activates. For example, if I'm trying to park and need to reverse, and then shift to drive, the parking brake engages everytime. Is this normal, or is there a way to deactivate this function?

Gm have the same feature, i don't think you can shut it off it is a safety feature

Once you shift to Parking the Electric parking break will activate this is due to Ford Explorer Recall: Drive Shaft Disconnects Due To Rear Axle Bolt Fracturing. 22V-255 / 22S27 . They reprogramed all 21+ newer models with this to get the nhtsa off their backs. It Doesn't fix the main hardware failure it has but keeps the car from rolling.

The service mode is usually necessary for rear brakes , not the front

I had to take it to Ford because the computer would not release the braking mode. They had to use a Ford proprietary computer tool. To release the braking mode.

⁠@@dustyjoe1980my 2021 F150 is the same way. Ford has been trying to figure out why for the last 6 months. Not even their top main engineers can figure it out. I can't service my brakes. They can activate/deactivate with their system.
