“I’m just a dumb kid in a garage”. That’s the best kind of mechanic because you can troubleshoot your own stuff! Dealers test a few things and then try to sell you a new machine.
Nice Chris. I really like Simplicity mowers. The ATF trick is a game changer. I use a slime bottle except with ATF. Put about 8oz in, fill up and roll around and it seals it!
ATF is what I use to seal tires now. Nice looking machine, I haven't come across a Simplicity tractor. I've seen them around but never gotten one. Later...
@@ChrisXOutdoors My understanding is, I have never done it, that the mineral oil in the ATF causes the rubber to swell, thus stopping the leak. So in theory mineral oil itself will work as well. I prefer to just install a tube.
Yeah.. different strokes for diff folks. This was the first time I’ve bought a tube this year and it seemed abnormally highly priced lol. Tube probably lasts longer than atf but I’d be interested to try it out
@@ChrisXOutdoors Tractor Supply is expensive for tubes. IIRC the jungle website has them for about half the price. At least the last time I looked for my Craftsman II.
@@5beesgarage Mills Fleet Farm is the best quality and most reasonable prices here in Iowa. Can buy cheap Chinese made tubes, but some have No offset. Meaning you have to drill a hole in the center of the wheel for valve stem. Got 2 of them from Harbor Freight. 1 ripped installing the other held, but as soon as I let go it got sucked in side. Later...
@ChrisXOutdoors i will. i literally bought this mower everything worked before i bought it. Put it in my garage, and then first, nice day i could mow it started clicking. Bought a new battary that wasn't it then replaced the starter just took the solenoid off today then one post was melted.
Did you figure out your oil leak on this machine ??? I’ve have a Koehler commander 14 hp in my Simplicity Broadmoor, I had an oil leak early on in its life under the flywheel believe it or not that seeped out of the casting ran over the side and all over the side of the engine ! My fix was to remove the flywheel and clean the casting up with brake clean and scratch deep grooves in the aluminum in like a grid and x pattern then fill the spot up with epoxy… work well and no leaks from that area in 27 years !!! Hope this helps for future fixes !!!
I never have any oil leaks from any of my Kohlers but have on briggs and it was the end of the dipstick needed a new ring around it because small amounts of oil came out
Would have liked to see you take the tires off of the tractor. Otherwise Very Good video. I have a Simplicity Broadmoor 16 that looks like it was hammered to keep the back tire on, so looking for some advice on that.
Looks like the first fuel filter was installed in reverse, usually that metal inner part of the filter points towards the tank just like the new one you installed.
I just bought one like this but the hydro version for a $120 bucks the guy says the motors junk but it’s all there it don’t blow or anything just weak to turn over but it has compression ima see if I can use my magic powers and try to bring it back to life it’s in fantastic condition it’s got no sun fade and looks to have little use thanks for the vid
They don't sell flat gaskets for that carburetor bowl don't lose your old one the replacements they do sell for them don't fit they're to tall that bowl takes the flat gaskets to make a good seal
I have a question maybe you can guide me in the right path , I have the same tractor I change the starter and coil module , but I still have NO SPARK , tractor won't turn over Could it be wiring issue or something else ??
There is a starter solenoid that is a big part of the situation. I touch on it in the video. I am unsure when but I remember I talked about it. That might be something to start with. That part is commonly sold on Amazon. You would just have to find the right part number for your machine, if that is the case.
Man I want a lawnmower so bad and there is one in my neighborhood and it’s a nice simplicity and he only wants $500 for it but I can’t afford it neither my parents. Our snowblower is leaking oil everywhere and I want to get a lawnmower and I have a plow already to put on it but times are so hard now and I wish I could help them out.
That’s very nice of you Hunter. You’d be surprised how things can be fixed with just a little attention. RU-vid is great for learning. Oftentimes, people put stuff out to the curb this time of year to clear garage space 👌🏼
Hello. don't take my question the wrong way. I am from the Czech Republic and I use google translate for translations, so my translation may be incomprehensible. i have this old simplicity regent 14 hp hydro mower tractor. I also have the original mulch kit from Simplicity. here are high lift blades. in the instructions, Simplicity says not to use lifting wings or high-lift knives for mulching. I was thinking of buying the so-called gator knives, but it was quite a problem to find one for this tractor. I was just thinking that sometimes I read somewhere on the Internet that someone turns the knives with the wing downwards on purpose. but that's probably stupid??? Thank you for your opinion.
But im gonna test out a Briggs bowl gasket for mine right now i cut and made one and its working fine but its not flat as it should be. That orange mower's idle speed is to high
