That's a great knot and an easy way to tie it. I put only one half hitch and one 3 turn uni knot. I've straightened out hooks, never breaks at the knot. Thanks, good video...

Great video , but um sticking with the double uni knot, I've never had it fail yet.

Personally I like to tie the 2 cinch knots, pull the knot tight, clip the mono close and the tie 2-4 cinch knots off of and in front of the mono tag end to build a "ramp" up and over the mono. It helps the mono tag end go through the guides smoother.

I tie it the same way but I cut the mono tag end before tying the last two half hitches around the braid. It helps to cover the cut end of the mono.

Great strong knot simple and easy to tie a lot easier than some of the fg knots

Watched about 20 different vids of different versions but like this the best, to finish I do 1 half hitch then a 5 or 6 turn uni to close of.

I have watched a ton of videos on the FG knot and this is the one that finally got me to get it right. My only issue was my eyes not seeing that close up. I may need to set up a gizmo to tie this at arms length. I wouldn't mind knowing how many wraps for 50# braid to 15# fluorocarbon. Thank you sir.

Great knot as long as you tighten it down after the first half hitch by pulling non tag end braid and flouro leader.... then do another half hitch cut the tag of the leader , tie two more hitches around the braid and cut the braid ...never fails

Doesn't putting the half hitches "between" the tag and mainline cause the tag to stick out, and would give you trouble winding your leader past your tip guide ? Most other vids on the FG show the half hitches go over the tag AND mainline. Thank you.

Very good video. I am still learning this knot. I had a lot of trouble with my first few. They were super tight, and the fleuro never slipped. But my hitch knots slipped once i started fishing and when they came undone the knot fell apart. Any alternative to the half hitch as an insurance knot?

i made the knot and in order to check it, i was streching it with my hands. Is it correct to see small gaps of the braid that reveals the fluorocarbon? does it need more tightetning in the beginning?

So you don't actually tie any knot in the mono? You're just tying the braid onto a straight piece of mono is that right? Doesn't it slip?

ummm what was "simplified" about that...isn't that just a normal FG knot?

The "Complicated" FG Knot

Looks too complicated especially for tying on the water. I use a doubled over 8” section of braid (made by using aquadruple surgeons knot with the doubled over braid), then taking a short (3-4”) section of doubled over fluoro leader& connecting the 2 doubled over sections with an improved Albright knot, using 4 turns of braid up the leader & 4 turns coming back down. I make sure the end of braid loop goes back thru & over the leader loop in the same direction. Maybe this is called an “improved Alberto knot.” It is very low profile with 15# fluoro & 15# braid. It doesnot fail & Yi can tie it in

didn't tighten after the first 2 hitch knots... your suppose to pull on the leader and the mainline.. your line will change color from the PE tightening .. . this will prevent it from slipping . this should be called the lazy FG knot.. just a minute faster. .

I have dentures now so cannot hold in my mouth. Getting old!

Not sure what was "simplified" there but I highly recommend NOT using this video to learn the FG not. Watch Salt Strong video to learn it.

I hate this #$%@ing knot

Not only was this not simplified, the finishing off is terrible and actually reduced the strength in the connection. This is THE WORST way to tie the FG Knot. Stick with the original plan. This is NOT a knot for compromises and should be executed perfectly.
