Do you recommend the the stick on grip and hip drill or the TS soft ball as compatible with your way of teaching as at the mo they are my goto drills but you are my goto YT coach!
@@thomasweathers3032 Key for me (applies if been ok sportsman) is that if you dont hinge you will compensate by rotating steep. which puts a lot of pressure on your back whilst rotating around as AP shows in this video puts a lot less stress on your back and activates your core and glutes which also puts a lot less stress on your back. You should be the judge of how long you do it,its your back!Warm up and/or stretch, over time gradually increase time spent on drill
Just when you thought it can't get any better, you come up a homerun drill that should be utilize by EVERYONE!!!! Bravo Zak, Bravo!!!! USE THIS DRILL EVERYBODY.
Ok the hinge and turn drill is crazy! I tried it and was puring shots one after the other. Incorporating that and the alignment rod between the feet is a must for every golfer not matter what skill level. Thanks Porzak Golf, your content is the best out there!
Dude, SAME! Absolute blew my mind. I played football all my life so I have a hard time not using my whole body to turn and my hips open too soon. This drill helps me focus on turning primarily with core and shoulders. Best of luck to ya!
So good. I think this has finally helped cure the club "wobbliness" I have at the top of my backswing from hinging too late. Stability at the top = good contact
Searched long and hard for instruction to help with lower back issues. I get under plane on the downswing and your videos will hopefully help. Keep up the great work
I watch a lot of instructional RU-vid (which probably hurts more than helps) but whenever I come back to the porzak drills I play the most consistent. Just seems to click better for me without having 100 thoughts at once.
Have been on a search for a video to help with my shoulder turn. So many videos on you tube that have been ineffective, contradictory, or do not help. Finally, a video that works. Seems to be correcting my early extension, and so far my contact has improved tremendously. Thanks for all the great videos. I have become a big fan of your channel.
Day 3 of this drill 100 plus balls each day . Dude the connection with my hands and chest and the pure shots fro every club wow… Thank you so much for sharing this damn I feel like I’m stealing from you….😎😎😎
Adam, this baseball swing drill has really helped me get to checkpoint 1 and hinge properly. I am really tall and struggled since day one with an over the top swing. This drill really gets me feeling the correct path and my ball striking is improving. Thanks Adam!
Adam can’t thank you enough for your content! Only golf instructor I recommend to people. I’ve been struggling with lower back pain this whole summer and after watching this video I have a pretty good feeling I have too steep of a shoulder plan. Excited to work on this at the range
This drill works so well, that I'm half-tempted to use it as my stock shot!. Great session, Adam. "Porzak Golf: Where tomorrow's Touring Professionals learn how to play golf today" :-)
Long time subscriber here... would love to see you guys do a collab with Good Good, maybe even take on Steve and watch him become super competitive with the rest!
Not a bad idea. But they do have a resident coach now. So logistically it might be tough. Maybe give us a shoutout on their pages.... you'll never know!
Beautiful move by Mason! Question -- once I'm at the top with good hinge, what's my intent or though to get the hands to go down and though on the same path as they passed on the way back? (I feel like my hands are much further at contact then at address.). I know it may be a chicken and egg thing, but is it hands focus or if I rotate around the left leg the hands pass though on their own? TY!
Thank you for replying! Your idea of correcting the conditions leading to lower back pain (not a constant, but happens sometimes when I'm not at the right distance from the ball) spoke to me!@@PorzakGolf
Hardest part of the swing for me to get is the takeaway and wrist movement to the top. When I get it right, the swing feels automatic. You have much great content on this but for me it is really hard to develop a feel that I can trust, because when it is done correctly the club feels kinda weightless, so there is no weight to 'feel' if that makes sense?? Hoping this will work for me. Thanks
I used to have the same problem getting my arms to top. But when I saw the tip of tightening the forward little finger, it moves my swing right into place. Hope it works for you.
@@tomlamey7823 thanks for the input. I know the video/feel you’re referring to. It helps me but with that alone I still manage to rotate forearms/stop turning/ lay it off. Work in progress!😅
Hinge and turn (backswing). During the down swing, you keep the hinge right? But then how is the ball hit?! Because when you hinge, the club head is above the ball.
Would a 1 inch hinge up to initiate the swing (during a round) get desired results? I noticed Ryan Fox does this and have been experimenting with this idea myself.
We don’t preach this regularly, as we create a feeling for our players to nail the hinge from a regular setup position but if you need to hinge it better and keep the club in front of you and a 1 inch hinge up to start aids you in doing that, I’d say go for it!
This is most likely due to not nailing the setup and having the proper fixed points to be able to turn around. The hip bump is crucial to achieving the ideal turn with the lower and upper body. Here is a link to a video that explains how to properly set up to achieve the most efficient possible turn to the top… ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jSkFlEEr15U.html
Yes of course! but remember there are a few set up cues that we like to change for driver. If you want to learn more, look into our archive for Driver Set Up!
I thought hinging straight out is cupped, hinging straight back is bowed and hinging out 45 degrees is ideal. I ask because I do this drill as my pre shot (from you lol) but I hinge 45 to the right, and then turn.
Correct! The process of this drill should be: 1: hinge straight up 2: turn to the set position, creating a flat wrist with the 45 degree angle 3: turn to the top
Some weeks ago you posted a video stating that hinging just upwards would set you wrist in cupped position. So it should be 45 degree - but in this video you then again just hing up and does not talk about cupping
Correct! The process of this drill should be: 1: hinge straight up 2: turn to the set position, creating a flat wrist with the 45 degree angle 3: turn to the top
@@PorzakGolf Actually an amazing drill for me also. I use to tend to bow the wrist and take the club inside - I feel the bow it setting the wrist, which it is not - but not easy to change after 20 years of golf that way But hinging up and turn feels like I throw it much more over my shoulder, so not inside. However, doing it without the drill is not easy for me - but practice practise practice
@@PorzakGolf Hey until I get better why not I mean 8&9 iron today. Was hitting maybe 2 out 10 , 8 irons pure 155-165 😎 Does this work for long clubs as well.?
