Finally Jerome. He is exactly right type of coach to have. I love to watch these lessons and i bet you dont argue with that you are improving with your swing nicely :). Mike was good old school swing type coach and great person. Golf tec... Well i wont say it 😂. This coach. Money!
I think this series Scratch to Scratch is the best new golf related content on RU-vid.. lets be honest, part of viewer engagement is the ability to identify with the experience.. also the videos from all these coaches has definitely helped me try new approaches to improve my game..
I've played golf for thirty plus years, but this year I've been struggling like crazy, even shooting 100 off an 8 handicap. The last couple of swing videos has been a great help to me when it comes to figuring out a couple of things. Thanks for your great content and thanks for sharing. Much appreciated!
Thanks for providing these videos! This is definitely not a cheap expense to not only go through with getting lessons and adding on to making these as videos with informative content!
Simple fundamentals is where it’s at this coach is fantastic. Hands still getting behind, which your coach is telling you. Once that is corrected your swing is going to super simple thus very repeatable. Great progress.
Glad you guys addressed the take away. Why I was harping on it on your first lesson because an on plane takeaway just makes everything else more automatic like you were feeling here
Great progress being made in your golf journey, Jerome. Loving the strides your making with your new swing coach, Chris Smeal. Stay the course and keep grinding!
Just coming here to say that you’re doing an awesome job. Keep grinding on the channel - it does not go unnoticed… you’re bringing an interesting perspective to learning the game of golf which is, “what someone can achieve when they actually apply themselves”. The way you present is very authentic and real.. and at the end of it all, that’s what wins!
What a difference in your swing and how you are hitting the ball! Scratch is definitely in your future. Laughed when you said "do that until I die". Too true.
Great progress, Jerome. Looking much better. Nice looking backswing now. Your forte: pelvis/chest rotation. This is what creates forward shaft lean at impact. This is the key to your swing speed. Hacks who can’t rotate like you worry about the forearm and hand release. When you turn properly with the hands ahead at impact, the release is automatic. Your improved swing shows you believe this!
I’ve been following your progress and wasn’t sure if I was going to subscribe, but you’re doing a great job asking the right questions! I just hit subscribe and liked the video. Keep it up!
"Its so easy now"! That is what a great coach can do. its important to find a coach that helps you improve somewhat quickly.(not instantly but pretty fast)
Did he recommend you get a impact bag to get feedback on squaring the face? I know he mentioned it in a previous video of some tools he would be utilizing
the way you just been hitting is not something people stumble on, it’s a culmination of learning specific movement patterns ie hold your grip like this, bump your hips like this at this specific time, takeaway like this, etc etc etc, I’m pretty much at a similar point and I’ve been hitting balls for the last two years, two or three times a week, I just incorporated that last tip you got for your driver ie don’t let that head move forward, and suddenly my drives gained an extra 10 yards, as much as you may feel like your not getting better quick enough, golf is a rely hard sport that requires a multitude of perfect techniques before you can get good, which imo your learning super quick, as I said before, your doing the right things, won’t be long before your hitting fairly consistent shots that go a good distance and go where your aiming, and yep there will still be bad shots, but looks like you now just understood the basics that will get you hitting good shots. Nice.
Haha. The funniest part about all of this is how many questions we needlessly ask ... instead of just swinging like we're being told to! I have been the same way.
I despise hitting off mats because I feel they reinforce bad things. Example: if you hit a fat shot in the grass you will take a huge chunk of grass and the ball will not go far. On a mat, you could potentially still hit a pretty good shot hitting it fat because the head will slide across the mat then still strike the ball.
lol, Jerome has been trying to get the "timing" for the release for the last three lessons now. The issue is the "flip" would happen on its own if you are swinging it correctly. If you had to consciously slip the face, something was already wrong. I like where Chris isn't answering his question but just trying to get him to do the right movement. That said, for someone, the "flip" timing is the key for them to get the swing correctly, I guess we will figure out what sort of golfer Jerome is.
I think there needs to be some understanding about the difference between a flip and release, Jerome sometimes refers to the release as “the flip” i.e. in a previous video he says “at what point after impact should I flip” when I think what he means is “what does the release look like after impact”. Us long time golfers usually think of flipping as a bad thing in that generally it refers to a shot or impact where the hands are behind the ball, there is no shaft lean (or even backward shaft lean)and usually no hip turn.
High quality production and content - Cheers! - i was very concerned with your previous videos in regards to progression, but now that you cleaned up your back swing, your strikes look pure - Great Work
Its only fair that i watch all your videos because you just saved me £400/month on personal golf lesson which i gave up since discovering your channel. Thanks buddy.
As a golfer who has been scratch and +3-5 at times.... can I give you some advice? If you over-analyze, you'll never win at this game. You have to eventually understand much of this is about feel. You're not building a bridge. You're playing golf!
When you understand the mechanics of golf swing….. it becomes simple, but a lot of people over complicate it, so… practice does not make perfect… practice the right way does. Now Jerome need to learn golf etiquette and golf rules, remember the rules are there to help you if you use them right.
While I support Jerome in choosing a coach who style he connects with, as a youtube channel, the coach he picked is not offering much new content or perspective.
This will never translate to the golf course. This teacher cannot point to a single golfer he's ever taken from a 90s shooter to a 70's shooter. Because this is not the game that pro golfers are playing. It's the alternate reality version of golf that golf teachers are selling. The hands are what operate the golf club. No other body part even touches the golf club. If you operate your hands wrong, which you are absolutely doing, you will NEVER get better at golf. And this teacher doesn't have a clue. Hit me back. I'll point you to the right teacher.
its not about what a coach says! Its about what gets through to the students. A lot of coaches can "talk" and say all sorts of things but a masterful teacher can get his students to understand and bring about action.
I’m not suggesting that this was a terrible move but to sometimes Jerome almost seems disrespectful when referring to his old coach. Almost chuckles at times.
@@mdhandley11 yeah that would not be cool. I'm enjoying watching his journey specifically because I don't know about you but I've watched a lot of people online try to learn golf from different instructors or in different ways and many times I feel like they stay with the wrong instructor for too long waiting for something to get better. This reaffirms to me that generally when you find the right coach for you for whatever reason you're going to improve pretty rapidly. So sitting around and waiting for something to get better probably isn't the best move you probably need a different coach if it's taking a little too long. (Not in an impatient impulsive way but if your truly following through on their instruction for more than x amount of sessions)
