This song is my childhood. I’m 52 and still feel the pain of having an absent father and a detached mother. Growing up with violence and neglect. Living in fear as a child creates a lifetime of pain and resentment. To all the parents…. Just love your kids. Give them your time and love.
Understand perfectly. My childhood was very difficult. My father and mother made my home sad , a battle . It was because their personality it was opposite. I used to cry a lot. Now I am repairing my soul and I keep holding on. Sorry for my English, I am Hispanic.

@@robertmetzinger4121 Thank you Robert, I'm trying my best, some days though I just can not function yet those around me " at work" expect me to just be over it & move on. Qhat they fail to realize is that every day that passes seems to make it worse. I struggle just get a wiff of her sent on her pillow. I see her shoes and remember how she altered shoes each day to keep her feet healthy. She was so loving and accepting of people the way they were. Anger is starting g to creep in as I see that there are dirtbags who live long lives , yet my beautiful loving wife was taken away at such a young age. Dying doesnt scare me whatsoever, its living withiut her that horrifies me.
It's crazy to think that when they first released this song it didn't even make it into the top 50... They re-released it a year later and it got to number 2 in the UK and number 1 in the US... Just shows you life is all about timing and keeping going..

This song...was my life...and in someway...was an instrument of healing God used in order for me to SEE MY LIFE & grieve over what was never there...AND because HE was not in my parents lives...made me realize what THEY were incapable of giving...incapable of loving...and incapable of forgiving each other... my childhood was horrible... but GOD!! HE STEPPED IN and gave me beauty for ashes! Thank you Jesus!! @@Rick-pn1pp Rick, Same here, I was just in love, and in a psychological stranglehold by a self centered female, who couldn't of cared less if I lived or died. Every time I found the fortitude to part ways, she'd reel me back in with some hollow words, until 3 weeks ago, and it hurts as you know. Now I'm better off, but I miss her, I still love her, but I despise her too.
My Mother found this song and it's lyrics resonated in her after first her fiance died, then her mother and then her father all in 1 horrible year...my mother passed away a week ago, and I now can feel the lyrics like she did .
Yeah today would of been my wedding anniversary 12 years this song seems so appropriate I wasted all those tears wasted all those years she walked out on me 3 years ago not that I was abusive or cheated or was a druggie, I simply lost my job and the money I had ran out it was too much for her to handle having to support the two of us. I would of never done her that I would respected my vows for richer and for poorer...I feel bitter really let down but it's life I get up and dust myself and face another battle.....

I only heard the lyrics today on a radio & it's doubly *haunting* as a relationship that absorbed me then resonates with this so much.
